When Nintendo first announcedKirby and the Forgotten Landas the first fully 3DKirbygame, fans were understandably excited to see the pink puffball finally starring in his first adventure in the third dimension. Nintendo has shown off plenty about the upcomingKirbyadventure through a variety oftrailers detailing Kirby’s new abilitiesand the wide world the character will explore when the game releases later this month. Now, a new clip from Nintendo shows off one of the character’s most highlighted new abilities.
While theKirbyfranchise has dabbled in 3D games before,Kirby and the Forgotten Landmarks a major step for the long-running platformer franchise as the franchise’s first fully 3D entry. Previous games likeKirby 64: The Crystal Shardsintroduced 3D models in the series' classic 2D side-scrolling platforming andKirby Star Allieseven allowed players to run around in a 3D overworld before transitioning to more standard 2D platforming. Kirby is set to pick up plenty of new techniques inForgotten Landand Nintendo recently showed off his brand new Light-Bulb Mouth ability.

The newest clip re-introduces players toKirby’s Light-Bulb Mouth transformation. The ability sees Kirby’s body morphing into the shape of a giant light-bulb with a comically large mouth that lights up to help Kirby navigate through dark areas. The brief gameplay segment shows Kirby using the light from his mouth to navigate a narrow pathway through a dimly lit environment. Even when the main light is turned off, Kirby continues to glow a dim red giving off a small amount of light around him.
Kirby’s newest abilities have caught the attention ofKirbyfans around the world as the release ofForgotten Landsits just over a week away. Courtesy ofForgotten Land’s “Mouthful Mode” allowing Kirby to suck up even larger objects than before, the new game will see Kirby able to transform into a variety of large objects ranging from vending machines and light-bulbs to Kirby eating a car and transforming into a fully operational “Karby.” Players will also be able to upgrade Kirby’s basic Copy abilities throughout the course ofForgotten Land.
While Kirby’s comical new abilities have been the focal point for many of the character’s passionate fans,Forgotten Landis set to introduce a whole host of changes to go along with the new gameplay formula for the upcoming game.Forgotten Landis set to introducenew course objectives toForgotten Land’s many areasproviding players with incentives to discover more secrets hidden in each stage, as well as city-building mechanics for Waddle Dee Town.Kirby and the Forgotten Landis set to introduce bold new ideas to the franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary.
