Minecraftis as much a household name as anything these days, and despite being almost 12 years old, it continues to amaze with unbreakable records and impressive achievements. Although it hasn’t quite reached it yet, the next accomplishment the game is hot on the heels of is in relation to its monthly active users. A recent financial report from Microsoft reveals that almost the game had almost 140 million monthly active users during the first quarter of 2021, a number that is already a 30% increase when compared to the same quarter of 2020. Given thisupward trend of the data, it likely won’t be long before 140 million monthly active users is reached and then inevitably surpassed.
One could talk for hours about what makesMinecraftso appealing and how it has managed to stay alive and thrive for so long, but it all comes down to the passion of the players. For every ounce of content thatMinecraftgives, its players give back ten fold in online video content, mods, communities, and more.

It’s worth noting that the pandemic likely had something to do with this surge ofMinecraftplayers, but over the last few months things have slowly started to return to normal in many parts of the world. With each of these yearly big updates,Minecraftplayers swarm back to the game to experience its magic all over again.

Players can have just as much fun engaging with crazy mods and new updates as they do simply building a cobblestone house and trying to survive. The upcoming update is the next big thing forMinecraft, but withCaves and Cliffs being split into two parts, players won’t get access to it all at once. Players can expect to see the first part of this update this Summer, bringing new mobs, building blocks, and items. The second half of the update will address the way worlds are generated inMinecraft, and is set to release this holiday season.
