Along with the Skeletons and Spiders, Zombies were some of the first hostile mobs that players would have to avoid or defeat. Like many hostile mobs, Zombies can be spotted in dark areas of the overworld, and in mines. Players may alsofindMinecraftZombie spawnersin mine shafts, with covering this block in torches being the best way to avoid a hostile army. Zombies occasionally spawn with iron, leather, gold, and diamond gear, but this one spotted by a player was decked out more than usual.

WhileMinecraftZombiesare known to be equipped with some items, Reddit user FastZander101 was shocked to see one with full diamond. The gamer recently posted a clip of their encounter asking how rare the full diamond set is for a Zombie. The video begins with the player crossing a body of water in a boat. During their boating, the player is attacked multiple times, presumably by Phantoms. The gamer approaches a sandy beach, and two Zombies come into view. As the player gets closer to these Zombies, one is noticeably wearing a full set of diamond armor and has a sword.
FastZander101 states that their Seed was generated in hard mode. Hard mode is known to provide stronger hostile mobs, but their item rarity doesn’t change. Each piece of Zombie gear is randomly generated, with a 37.5% chance of getting leather, a 48.5% likelihood of receiving iron, and a 12.5% possibility of diamond armor. Because the likelihood of a Zombie being equipped with nothing is much higher, the one with a full diamond set is only 0.04% likely. On top of theMinecraftdiamondset, this Zombie’s sword adds further complexity to the equation, making it one of the rarest possible Zombie spawns.
Because some players have pointed out that Zombies can equip gear that they pick up, it’s possible that FastZander101 was slain in the area andthe hostileMinecraftmobfound their drops. Given that the hard mode Zombie is made even stronger with its equipment, it’s unclear if the player was able to defeat it or not.
