Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Oneis going to be a thrill ride for fans. There are some great action set pieces in this first section which will surely leave fans wanting more. From car chases to wild stunts to sword fights, this movie has it all.

Admittedly, there is one thing missing fromMission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. There are not as many funny parts in the movie as in previous films. It’s hard to top a movie likeMission Impossible: Ghost Protocolbut maybe the sequel will have more charm to it. That doesn’t mean the movie doesn’t have any funny or good quotes in it.

8“We More Or Less Mean Word.”
This line was said by a lot of characters at the beginning of the movie. Kittridge and several other key characters within IMF and the government are explaining how missions get done to Denlinger. There doesn’t seem to be any order to the organization which is why the scene works.
It points out how silly it is to rely on agents by giving them secret codes via tapes, records, etc. What if Ethan orsome other spynever chose to accept the mission?
7“Do Not Consider It Safe Until You Drive A Stake In His Heart.”
After Ethan interrupts this meeting with a gas bomb and refuses to give the key to the IMF, Kittridge declares him an enemy. The military and other organizations are sent on a mission to take down Ethan at any cost. One of these teams is led by Agent Jasper who preps his team with this line.
Jasper knows how slippery Ethan can be which is why he gives the vampire analogy. This is funny considering that Tom Cruise has famously playeda vampire before, Lestat, fromInterview with the Vampire.
6“No One Is Safe From Phineas Freak!”
This is a callback to one of the earlier entries in the series. Benji and Luther are bickering about who should take point on the tech side of the mission in the airport. That’s when Benji brings up how skilled Luther is by calling him Phineas Freak.

Luther demonstrates his skillsas a hackerby putting Ethan’s face on multiple people at the airport to confuse Jasper’s team which is when he says this line. As good of a hacker, as Luther is, he is not good enough to completely erase Ethan from existence, unlike The Entity regarding Gabriel. It’s the first showcase of how dangerous an AI can be inMission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.
5“Who Parks Like That?”
The best scene in the movie takes place in Venice during the daytime. Ethan is giving chase to Grace who steals a car but is shown very quickly how incompetent she is at driving. It’s a nice change of pace to see a character in this series be bad at something.
She keeps saying sorry or commenting on parking as she crashes through cars like it is a demolition derby. The scene gets better when Grace and Ethan have to drive a tiny yellow car while handcuffed. The car is reminiscent of Lupin’s car from theLupin the 3rdanime.
4“I Was Hoping It’d Be You.”
There is one major death for the good guys in the movie via Ilsa. Gabriel and Ilsa have a sword/knife fight on one of the canals of Venice. Previously, he let Grace go but when he saw Ilsa coming, Gabriel says this line. Gabriel knew Grace wouldn’t put up much of a fight as she is a thief and nota trained assassinor spy. Gabriel wanted a fight and he certainly got one through Ilsa who was skilled, but not skilled enough to take him out.
3“Will You Still Remember That When You Look Him In The Eye?”
Ethan is understandably devastated by the death of Ilsa and vows to punish Gabriel for his crimes. This is not the only woman Ethan loved that Gabriel took away. The extent of that backstory is not revealed much inMission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.

In the final planning phase of the movie, Luther says this line to Ethan. He needs to remind Ethan that he cannot kill Gabriel and he has to remember that no matter what. Sometimes it’s hard to think clearly ina revenge plotthough.
2“Ready?”
Every entry in this series has a big stuntthat Tom Cruisepreps endlessly for. InMission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, he jumps a dirt bike off of a mountain and parachutes down to the train. He disappears for a while as the film cuts to Grace fleeing agents aboard the Orient Express.
When it looks like she is about to die, Ethan comes crashing through the window. He looks stupefied as to how he got there, but when he sees Grace he simply asks, “Ready?” It’s a great save in the movie and one that has a lot of humor behind it as well.
1“I Choose To Accept.”
Just as Ethan predicted, Grace asks Kittridge to join the IMF at the end of the movie. Kittridge agrees but he is not a fool to blindly take her in. Surely Kittridge knows that Ethan may be planning something by handing Grace over.
So, does Ethan have a plan for her within the IMF? Will Grace spy on the organization and give Ethan intel like how Benji did inMission: Impossible - Rogue Nation? Fans of this movie are not going to have to wait long to find out as the sequel should be coming in 2024.
