The following contains spoilers forMy Hero AcademiaChapter 400, “Beyond Limits,” by Kohei Horikoshi, translated by Caleb Cook available in English fromViz Media.
My Hero Academia continued this week with an exciting chapter as the fight between All Might and All For One continued. Last week, the manga cut away from the fight between All Might and All For One and started focusing on Aoyama instead. While it was a rather sudden change, it tied very well with the last few pages of the chapter where the penultimate battle ofMy Hero Academiacontinued.

This week, inMy Hero Academiachapter 400, fans once again got to see both of these battles explored, however, more focus was placed onthe fight between All For One and All Might. The clash between these two characters was certainly incredible and it is quite clear that it is going to end at any moment now.

Hagakure And Aoyama
Horikoshi has done very well when it comes to wrapping up the minor fights and delivering a proper conclusion to them. At the same time, these fights are then tied into the fights that follow and that is precisely what fans saw inMy Hero Academiachapter 400 as well. The chapter, surprisingly, opened with Aoyama and Hagakure once again and it was quite fun to see these two quirky characters interact with one another. Fans got a proper look at Hagakure, especiallybecause her Quirk startedto malfunction. Her invisibility isn’t working properly at the moment, which means that, for the very first time, fans have gotten an extended look at this particular character.
At the same time, Aoyama was also focused on quite a lot inMy Hero Academia400. After releasing a powerful blast of laser in the previous chapter, it was expected for him to feel the repercussions. Every single time he uses his Quirk, he feels the side effects and that is expected, given how strong his power is. In the previous chapter, he certainly over-exerted himself, as did Hagakure. As such, both of these characters felt the side effects and that was focused on quite well inMHA400. While they are done with their fights, there is still another job for them to do and that is to burn down the roots of all the plants that cover the battlefield. To that end, Aoyama and Hagakure will combine once again, which means they are both going to have to overexert their powers once again and that just goes to show brilliant resolve from these characters. As good as this section of the chapter was, the vast majority of the fans were waiting for the fight between All For One and All Might to continue and, thankfully, the chapter immediately shifted focus to it.

All Might Continues His Assault
Towards the end of the previous chapter,All Might launched a powerful assault at All For Onewhen he unleashed the laser beam shot from the skies. This assault continued in MHA 400 and even powered up further. All Might is certainly giving it his all and he wants to leave no stone unturned. His performance here has been absolutely immense, despite him not even having a Quirk. The vast majority of this fight has been fought by him through sheer willpower. All For One is an incredibly difficult enemy for anyone to take on in combat and the fact that All Might is still hanging on in this battle just goes to show that he has exceeded all expectations. That said, All Might did clarify in this week’s chapter that the reason why he is standing is that All For One has, on purpose, avoided delivering deadly blows to All Might. This is because he wants to see him writhe in pain and beg for help as the battle wraps up.

Unfortunately, this is precisely why All Might has managed to push him to this point in this fight. All Might has done incredibly well to survive. He has used all the battle experience that he amassed over the years and combined it with the incredible battle armor that was built for him by Melissa. The result was what fans are seeing right now and it is almost as if the Number One Hero is resurgent. All Might has successfully managed to stop All For One in his advances to a great degree. Even if he fails from here onwards, his performance is nothing short of remarkable.
New All Might Quirks
My Hero Academiachapter 400 also showcased All Might using new abilities. He did not just rely on the abilities that he unleashed in the previous chapter. This time around, to keep his assault going, All Might made use of Earphone Jack, which is something that fans were expecting to see in this week’s chapter. Using the power of Earphone Jack, All Might was able to paralyze the senses of All For One and keep him in place while the laser kept blasting him from above. This proved to be a very smart move by All Might, especially because wasting as much time as he possibly can right now is probably the best thing that he can do, and Earphone Jack aids him greatly in accomplishing that.
That said, the section of the fight that fans witnessed in this week’s chapter did not pan out without the favor beingreturned by All For One.Not only was it confirmed that he had crushed All Might’s legs in this chapter, but he also launched another powerful attack directly at him which tore into his armor and injured him even more. However, All Might still continued to fight and when his armor broke off, he used another ability that he copied from one of his students, Creation. As fans know, this is the Quirk ability of Momo, and using this power, he morphed his armor into balls that resemble the Quirk of Mineta to hold him in place.

Stain Joins The Fight
The final section ofMHA400 was certainly the very best part of the chapter. After All Might’s laser assault from the sky stopped, fans finally got to see what damage this power had done to All For One. Much to the surprise of the readers, All For One had completely reverted into the body of a child. The power of Rewind that he currently possesses is very dangerous. Not only is it healing his injuries but it is also reverting the growth of his own body. This means that right now, he is not in his prime and a much-weakened state.
Despite that, however, his current state is surely still more than enough to kill All Might. He can still pull off his plan and that only means more work from All Might is needed. Realizing that All Might was almost out of gas, All For One, in his child body, prepared to launch an offensive and kill him. However, that is precisely when he realized that his body was not moving. While fans first attributed this to the grape balls thrown by All Might, It was later revealed that this paralysis was downto none other than Stain.Readers saw Stain enter the battlefield quite a while ago and he had been laying low ever since then.
InMy Hero Academiachapter 400, he finally made his move. By activating his Bloodcurdle ability and licking the blood of All For One, he was able to paralyze him and give All Might the perfect opportunity to end this fight for good. Now, All Might is prepared to launch a powerful attack at All For One, with the hope that it ends the fight for good. The next chapter ofMy Hero Academiais where all eyes should be as it could mark the end of this incredible fight.
