One of the biggest conversations surrounding the upcoming PS5 is the topic of backward compatibility. Whether this is due to a slightly sparse launch lineup, or how transparent Microsoft has been with theXbox Series X’s backward compatibility, is hard to say. However,Naughty Doghas now confirmed that all of its titles will work on the PS5.
Naughty Dog, developer ofThe Last of UsandUnchartedseries, took to Twitter to confirm that all of its titles will work on the PS5 at launch. The tweet went on to mention that this includesTheLast of Us 1and2,Uncharted 1through4,Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, as well as theJak and Daxtergames.

There is one omission from this list that Naughty Dog provided, however. The Last of Us: Left Behind, while originally DLC for the first game, went on to be a standalone title that players could download and play without owning the original. That being said, Sony recently went on record to say that thePS5 would support the majority of its PS4 lineup, so Naughty Dog may have been operating with this assumption in mind forLeft Behind.
Players that have been paying close attention to the PS5’s backward compatibility situation are likely not surprised by this news. Not only is Naughty Dog a studio that is wholly-owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but Sony also recently announced the10 PS4 games that won’t work on the PS5, and none of the studio’s titles were mentioned.
Luckily for PlayStation Plus members, some of these Naughty Dog titles will be available for them to play from day one on their new PS5. PlayStation recently announced that PlayStation Plus members on PS5 will have access to thePlayStation Plus Collection, allowing them to play through some of the top games from this generation. For Naughty Dog, this means that players will be able to play through bothThe Last of Us: RemasteredandUncharted 4on their PS5 for free as a PlayStation Plus member.
There is one thing that Naughty Dog didn’t make clear through this announcement that might be on some players' minds. Sony recently announced thatcross-generational save support on the PS5 will be left up to the developer, and withNaughty Dognot making this information available in its announcement, there is a possibility that players may have to start fresh. If this ends up being the case, however, it will just give players another excuse to relive the stories they are interested in again.
