The DMR’s first appearance inHalowas inHalo: Reach, and the images leaked forInfinitelook similar to that version of the rifle as well. Players have been looking forward to the release ofthe Forge mode forHalo Infiniteas well. First appearing inHalo 3, the Forge allowed players to create their own maps or alter existing ones for custom multiplayer games.

These leaks are big news forHalofans. The DMR has been a deadly weapon, especially in multiplayer, since its introduction. Its quick semi-automatic rate of fire and built-in scope make it easy to line up multiple headshots for players who have a quick trigger finger and pinpoint accuracy. When it comes to the Forge game mode, players having been using it to create unique maps for years now, like when someone used it torecreate aDestinyPvP map inHalo 5. If anything, the Forge mode inInfinitelooks like it will have even deeper customization options, allowing for greater player creativity.

Along with the promised co-op campaign mode, these leaks are making the future of the gamelook very promising. A lot of people have been wanting more classicweapons like the DMR to be added toHalo Infinite, and custom game modes are usually a great way to prolong interest and engagement in a game’s multiplayer scene. With the creativity shown byHaloplayers in previous iterations of the mode, it’s almost certain that the expanded Forge mode will have people coming back just for the custom games.

Of course, some people might have been hoping for other weapons like the Spartan Laser, Brute Shot, or Covenant Carbine to be leaked. There’s no reason that these couldn’t make an appearance at some point, though. And while some players might not have any interest in playing custom Forge maps, that’s content that can easily be ignored if players aren’t interested, so there’s really no downside to the Forge reveals. Ultimately, these leaks seem to showcase a bright future forHalo InfiniteandHalofans.

Halo Infiniteis available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
