In November 2023, Nvidia released adriver update to add support forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This version 546.17 driver included DLSS support and updates to allow the game to run at high frame rates on GeForce RTX graphics cards while DLSS was turned on. However, the update was not without flaws, and it was followed up weeks later with another driver update, version 546.29, in early December to fix them. The early December update also added support forCyberPunk 2077: Ultimate Editionto utilize Nvidia’s ray reconstruction tech and enhance the game’s appearance. However, with 2023 drawing to a close, the tech giant was not finished with making sure PC gamers had their drivers up to date.

On December 12, Nvidia Game Ready Driver version 546.33 was released for graphics cards from the high-end RTX 40 series down to the older GTX 700 series. According tothe update notes from Nvidia, DLSS 3 and DLAA support were added to supported graphics cards such as the RTX 4060 and up.The Finalsstarted its inaugural season on December 7, followinga massive shadow drop at The Game Awards. Nvidia claimed the DLSS 3 update forThe Finalsincreased frame rates by a margin of 90 FPS at 4K resolution on high-end cards such as the RTX 4090. By comparison, the RTX 4060 saw an increase up to 162 FPS at 1080 with DLSS turned on, and the RTX 4090 crossed the 300 FPS threshold at that resolution.
The Nvidia GeForce 546.33 update added DLSS 2 and Nvidia Reflex support toFortnite Chapter 5,as well. This update spanned the newLEGO FortniteandRocket Racingmodes, both of which were also shown off at The Game Awards. But the new chapter’s arrival was not without controversy, as the update saw complaints from players aboutchanges made toFortnite’s movement systems.

Only time will tell when Epic Games will respond to these concerns fromFortniteplayers. Nevertheless, between the Nvidia driver update and an ongoing offer that givesNvidia GPU buyers an Xbox Game Pass subscription, PC gamers have a lot to chew on this holiday season.
