Imu is one of the most important characters inOne Piece,now more so than ever since the story is in its Final Saga. Oda, the author of the story has been itching to draw the final segment of his manga and this is the part of the story that has him most excited. Oda has meticulouslyplanned the final sagafor years and it is time for him to do justice to the characters that he had been saving for the last saga ofOne Piece.

Imu, who was recently introduced in the story, is one such character, and fans are waiting for Oda to dive deeper into their powers. Thankfully,One Piecechapter 1085 did just that and, while the fans did not get a clear picture of what powers they possess, it was somewhat confirmed that Imu is, in fact,a Devil Fruit user.
Imu’s Power
One Piecechapter 1084 saw Cobra gaining attendance with the Five Elders. As the fans know, Cobra wanted to ask them questions pertaining tothe former monarchs of the Nefertari Family.At the same time, he also wanted to ask them about the people of the D. When Cobra met the Five Elders, he asked them about Nefertari Lily, the monarch of the land of Arabasta from 800 years ago. According to him, Lily did not join the founding families of the World Government. Instead, she chose to go back to her homeland and rule. However, tragedy befell her and she never made it back to Arabasta.
Upon hearing Lily’s name, Imu made their appearance in front of Cobra and this was very surprising both for the fans as well as the Five Elders alike. Imu answered the question of Cobra about the people of the D and also mentioned to him thatLily was also a member of the D. Family.Knowing that his fate was sealed, Cobra prepared for death and he was attacked by the group shortly after. However, Sabo jumped into action and attacked both the Gorosei and Imu to aid him. Much to the surprise of the fans, Imu transformed into a unique beast, which signifies that he does indeed have Devil Fruit powers.

Imu’s Potential Devil Fruits
The very first thing that fans must realize is that Imy does, in fact, have a Devil Fruit ability. While Devil Fruits are not the only source of power inOne Piece,they are the most common one. When someone transforms, it can be due to a Devil Fruit power or it can be due to the presence of a unique race that exists within theOne Pieceworld. When it comes to the powers of Imu, they surely seem to stem from a Devil Fruit. Sadly, fans did not get to see what form Imu took as their appearance was still kept under wraps as a silhouette.
Nonetheless, fans can already take a guess based on what Imu displayed inOne Piecechapter 1085. The most important thing that fans must remember when it comes to the powers of Imu is that they were able to somehow swallow Sabo’s fire. Shortly after Sabo attacked the Five Elders, he created a new technique using which he attacked Imu. Seeing this technique, Imu quickly transformed into a giant creature, the head of which appeared to be massive. The creature had rugged teeth, indicating that Imu is in fact a user of a Zoan Devil Fruit. Imu opened their mouth and swallowed the fire like it was nothing. Later on, they also went on to roar very loudly as they killed Cobra, who tried protecting Sabo and, through him, get a message delivered to Vivi and Luffy.
A short display of Imu’s powers was enough for the fans to start speculating about what ability it is that they could have up their sleeve. The very first conclusion that the fans can draw is that Imu is certainly a user of aMythical Zoan Devil Fruit.This is quite clear looking at them transform into the gigantic creature that covered the entirety of the Empty Throne and the pathway leading up to it. Given that Luffy is a user of a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Oda draw a direct parallel to it and give Imu a Mythical Zoan as well.
The interesting part is deciphering which fruit Imu would have and there are certainly many that fans can make a case for. One very interesting aspect of Imu’s ability is that it is likely going to be an ability in contrast to Luffy’s very own. Luffy is Nika and fans know Nika to be the Warrior of Liberation, spreading joy, laughter, and freedom wherever he goes. Whatever God Imu is, is likely going to be something completely opposite of Luffy. Imu could well have the ability of the Devil itself. The devil could enslave the world and that is precisely what Imu has done. In fact, a very interesting idea that exists within the world ofOne Pieceis that of the Sea Devil. Many believe that Devil Fruits are incarnations of the Sea Devil and once consumed, and the sea ends up hating them which is why they sink.
If Imu is a Devil, it is possible that they might actually be one from this myth and have a Devil Fruit related to the powers of the Sea Devil. This would also explain why Sabo’s fire did not work against them as they would have a Devil Fruit ability to reign supreme over all of them.
Another incredible ability that Imu could have up their sleeve is that of Chaos. When Imu spoke inOne Piece1085, they did so in quite a childish manner. The pronouns that they used to refer to themselves came off as something that a child would use, especially in Japanese. Interestingly, the pronoun that they use, Mu, can also be translated into infinity or nothingness, or simply void. This is very interesting as Imu is known to have played a part in the Void Century as well.
Furthermore, they have also created smaller voids over the course of time by erasing places and covering up incidents. The God Valley Incident and the erasure of the Lulusia Kingdom are two such examples. It is entirely possible that Imu is the God of the Void themselves. Their Devil Fruit could be a godly power, just like Luffy’s Nika fruit is a godly power. Instead of bringing joy and freedom, Imu would only bring chaos and void.
Of course, nothing is set in stone just yet and the ink isn’t dry. Oda knows which way he wants to go with Imu but the fans can only speculate and doing so is a big part of theOne Piecefandom, in general. For now, there are all sorts of ideas out there about the powers that Imu might possess. One ability that the fans know for certain that Imu possesses is a weapon of mass destruction that they used to erase Lulusia. This weapon is likely the Ancient Weapon Uranus, the personification of the sky. With such powers up their sleeve, Imu is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
