Furthermore, those who took part in the creation of the World Government, the 20 Kings, and their families, have also been on the receiving end of a lot of exposition. Recently,One Piecerevealed the existence of the Nerona Family, which is where Saint Imu comes from.
What Is The Nerona Family?
Not much is known about the Nerona Family in the world ofOne Piece. It was introduced for the very first time inOne Piece1086 by none other than Emporio Ivankov, one of the highest-ranking membersof the Revolutionary Armyand the only person other than Dragon, Sabo told the secrets of the Reverie to. According to Ivankov, the Nerona Family is one of the original Founding 20 that created the World Government and also fought against the Ancient Kingdom in the distant past. The Sovereign of the Nerona Family was none other than Imu.
Given that the Nerona Family worked against the Ancient Kingdom and that their sovereign ended up becoming the ruler of the world, the Nerona Family was likely one of the most prominent ones during the time of the Void Century. Fans also know that the Nerona Family was especially at oddswith the Nefatary Family. The Nefertari are also believed to have been against the Ancient Kingdom during the time of the Void Century, however, this might only be a surface-level fact. The truth is, the Nefertari Family did indeed want to help the Ancient Kingdom, which is why Queen Nefertari D. Lily wrote about protecting the Poneglyphs and making sure that the Dawn of the world eventually arrives.

Imu blames Lily for the resurgence of the D and the pirates that have currently infested to oceans of theOne Pieceworld. At the same time, the Nefertari Family chose to not become Celestial Dragons. Instead, Queen Lily wanted to go back to Arabasta to rule her people. However, on the way, she met an accident of some sort and completely vanished. The conjecture drawn by Cobra was that she was killed and, given the grudge that Imu holds against her, this was likely their doing. This surely implies that the Nerona Family and the Nefertari Family share a deep history, however, what exactly it was, died with King Cobra.
Who Is Saint Imu Of The Nerona Family?
As mentioned by Emporio Ivankov himself,Saint Imu is not a mysterious namein the world ofOne Pieceat all. In fact, even Cobra knew of Imu’s existence. According to Cobra, Imu was one of the First 20 in theOne Pieceworld. Even Cobra knew more information about Imu, however, before he could finish, he was interrupted by Imu themselves and, later on, killed. Meanwhile, Emporio Ivankov also knows of Imu’s existence. According to Ivankov, there once existed a Saint Imu long ago during the time of the creation of the World Government and they were one of the Founding 20 who swore a vow and became a Celestial Dragon long ago.
However, somehow, Imu ended up with absolute power. This is likely because they are immortal. While the other Founding 20 sovereigns ended up dying, Imu survived. This was done through the power of the Ope Ope no Mi, an incredible Devil Fruit, that has also been termed the Ultimate Devil Fruit. Using the Perennial Youth Surgery, Imu was likely made immortal and, thus, became the strongest and the most authoritative of all the Celestial Dragons.

Still, not everyone knows of the existence of Saint Imu of Nerona Family. Somehow, only the Gorosei, who are believed to be the highest ranking of the Celestial Dragons, know about their existence. When Imu rose to power, it was the Gorosei who bowed down to them. It is also possible that the one who raised Imu was none other than the Gorosei themselves, which would be a parallel to how Doflamingo was raised by the Donquixote Family members after being found and chosen as their King. Nonetheless, Imu of the Nerona Family, who was one of the Founding 20 Sovereigns, has been alive ever since and rules the entire world currently.
The Powers Of Saint Imu
Given that Saint Imu rules the entire world, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to the fans that they are also very powerful. Although many expected Imu to be just a political power of great influence in theOne Pieceworld, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The fact is, Imu is incredibly dangerous and powerful enough to be called the ruler of the entire world. To be able to take the Empty Throne for themselves would mean that Imu would have to be at a very high level among the Founding 20. Fans already know that there were some very dangerous people among the Founding 20 capable of even fighting the Ancient Kingdom. After all, that is precisely how they defeated them.
For Imu to climb to a level above them would mean that they are incredibly powerful. At the same time, Imu was also revealed to have a Devil Fruit very recently inOne Piece. When Sabo attacked the Five Elders as well as Imu, they managed to transform into a giant creature with massive jaws and ate Sabo’s fire completely. They also ended up killing King Cobra, which although not a show of strength, goes to show that Sabo chose to run instead of protecting Cobra. The Devil Fruits that Imu possessesappears to be a Mythical Zoan one and while it has not been confirmed what creature this is, it could very well be a Western Dragon or a Mythical God with the power to bring chaos.

At the same time, fans also know Saint Imu of Nerona Family to be the ruler of the entire world and no person will find themselves in this position without having the makings of a Conqueror. It should not be a surprise to anyone if Imu displays the usage of the Color of the Supreme King or Conqueror’s Haki in the future.
Oda has already revealed quite a lot of information about Saint Imu of the Nerona Family, however, a lot still needs to be unraveled regarding this character. The good news is,One Pieceisn’t shying away from diving deep into the history of the Void Century, as well as those who said at the top of the world currently. Oda will most certainly reveal more information about Saint Imu moving forward and these are times to be excited for the fans.
