Summary

APokemonfan designed five variants of Bellossom by fusing it with other Pokemon. In addition to changing its appearance, the new Bellossom also takes on the type of the Pokemon it was combined with, indicating that it’s not just a cosmetic variation. Officially, there are noPokemongames with a fusion mechanic between ordinary Pokemon.

Pokemongames have never shied away from introducing new and innovative features.Pokemon Sun and Moonintroduced Z-Moves, whilePokemon Scarlet and Violetpresented the Terastal mechanic. However, most novelty features are considered generational gimmicks confined to their respective games. The only exception is Mega Evolutions, which were added inPokemon X and Y, appeared in other mainline games, and will now return in theupcomingPokemon Legends: Z-A.

Still, it appears some fans are eager to see a Fusion feature added toPokemongames. On Reddit, user sanjist drew five variants of Bellossom as if the Pokemon had fused with others. The artist merges Bellossom with Alolan Marowak, creating a dual Grass/Fire-type Pokemon. Bellossom with Girafarig, Dusion, and Mesprit turns into a dual Grass/Psychic-type Pokemon, while Bellossom with Lurantis sticks with Grass-type. It’s not the first time Bellossom has been the subject of fan art. On other occasions, thePokemon has taken on a humanoid appearance.

Artist Creates Five Bellossom Variants

These Bellossom variants have reignited a long-standing discussion in thePokemoncommunity regarding Pokemon fusion. With numerous generational gimmicks being introduced, fans speculate that it’s only a matter of time before a mainlinePokemongame officially incorporates fusion. Afan game calledPokemon Infinite Fusionalready addresses the mechanic competently, but the feature has yet to debut in a mainlinePokemongame.

These Bellossom versions illustrate how addingPokemon fusion in Gen 10would be a natural step in the franchise. While fusion isn’t entirely unprecedented in the franchise, as some older games, it has never been the central mechanic of aPokemongame. Perhaps Gen 10 will introduce this gimmick, and players won’t need to resort to fan games to satisfy their desire to fuse Pokemon.
