Pokemon GOFest 2020 Day 2 puts the focus on battling Team GO Rocket in a big way. In order tocomplete today’s portion of the event Special Research, players are going to have to face off against some Team GO Rocket bosses in one-on-one battles. As usual, Sierra, Cliff, Alro, and Giovanni are representing the leadership of the evil organization.

Throughout the day,Pokemon GOtrainers should be able to find Team GO Rocket grunts and bosses at dark Pokestops or in hot air balloons floating over the map. Once players arrive at a boss fight, they should be sure to take their time and setup a perfect roster of counters to take the boss down in one attempt and scratch them off their list.

This time around, the boss fights are actually a little easier than usual thanks to a reduced pool of possible Pokemon from each boss. Usually players need to go into the fight once and loss just to see which Pokemon are in the first two spots, but today each boss only has one possible Pokemon for each spot in their lineup. That should make things a lot easier. That said, each boss is also ending witha Gen 1 Legendary, which adds quite a bit of difficulty to the mix…

Zapdos

Beldum Counters

This Steel-/Psychic-type is often Sierra’s first choice and it can be a real pain if players don’t have a good counter lined up. Fire-Dark,, Ground, and Ghost-types will fair the best against Beldum.

Groudon - Mud Shot/Fire Punch

Houndoom Counters

Houndoom is another one of Sierra’s go-to Pokemon and the Dark-, Fire- type actually shares some weaknesses with Beldum, which can make the transition from battle 1 to 2 very nice if your starting Pokemon survives. Either way, stick with Fighting-, Ground-, Rock-, or Water-types.

Haxorus - Counter/Surf

Zapdos Counters

Lastly, players are going to have to face off against the Legendary Electric-/Flying-type bird Zapdos. Ice- and Rock-types are the best counters here, so players should focus on the following Pokemon to take this Legendary out of the skies.

Golem Rock Throw/Stone Edge

Hippowdon Ice Fang/Stone Edge
