APokemon GOplayer has decided to shame their lackluster mythical Pokemon with funny nicknames in a category with its own imaginative negative title. From the release ofPokemon Red and Blueall the way up toPokemon Scarlet and Violet, each mainline title has allowed players to nickname their companions and that remains the case withPokemon GO, even in the case of questionable names.
Reddit user Gquinn18 recently posted a screenshot of their mythical Pokemon collection inPokemon GOwhich is entirely composed of what they call “terrible” in a box of thirteen Pokemon that’s been dubbed “Tragedies.” Mew was fittingly the first mythical Pokemon introduced toPokemon GOas it was the Gen 1 representative of the category, with Niantic progressively adding more mythical Pokemon over time, leading up to Zerude fromPokemon Sword and Shield. Mew was added to thePokemon GOPokedexin 2018, while Celebi came shortly afterward. Deoxys, Darkrai, and Jirachi arrived the following year, and Arceus was among others that joined in 2022.

According to Gquinn18, every mythical inPokemon GOthat they received has been terrible which inspired them to create the category of hilarious nicknames dedicated to the rare Pokemon. Gquinn18’s most powerfulmythical Pokemon inPokemon GOis a Meloetta called Mellowetta at combat power 1665, while their weakest is a Shaymin named Shame at CP 1351. The remaining mythical Pokemon in the box are a Zarude named Rude, Keldeo called Killdeao, Hoopa named Poopa, Celebi dubbed Sellebi, Mew called Ew, and a Jirachi named Jirauchi beyond a few duplicates including Shiny Celebi and Mew which share the names of their brethren.
Sharing a similar naming pattern to their other mythical Pokemon, Gquinn18’s list of tragedies includes a Victini with an expletive for a name that could potentially result in punishment from Niantic if it’s used at a gym. Given that none of Gquinn18’s mythical Pokemon exceeds 2000 CP, it may be their inferiority in a battle that has made the Reddit user shame the ones that they’ve gotten so far.
ManyPokemon GOplayers have expressed their appreciation for multiple names from Gquinn18 list of mythical Pokemon, others had their own suggestions like calling Meloetta Midloetta or Jirachi Junkrachi. As somePokemon GOfans without manymythical Pokemoncriticized Gquinn18 for the mean naming, another simply highlighted the requirements to add Meltan to the tragedies box.
