There are several new types of Steel Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet & Violet. Varoom, Tinkatuff, Kingambit, and Iron Treads are all new additions to the game, as well as the worm Pokemon Orthworm, which players will discover as they collectTitan badges. Not all Steel-types can be encountered in the wild. For example, Kingambit must be evolved from Bisharp, which is a complex process that involves several stages.

Steel-type Pokemon are scattered all over the map in Paldea, and there’s no one area with a huge concentration of Steel-types. However, some areas, like East Province Area Three, are home to a decent amount of Steel-type Pokemon, and are worth exploring if players want to collect them all. Here are the best places to look for Steel-types inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

East Province Area Three

6East Province Area Three

East Province Area Three has a decent selection of Steel-type Pokemon. Players can find it nestled betweenthe cities of Levinciaand Zapacico. Trainers will want to have their Pokemon at levels around the mid-twenties level to handle the wild Pokemon encounters and trainer battles. East Province Area Three is home to a few Steel-types, includingVaroom, Magnemite, Orthworm, andCufant.

There are some other Steel-type encounters to find here, too. Players will get a Titan badge bybattling a giant Orthwormhere (after chasing it around a little). They’ll also find a Falinks here with Steel as its Tera Type.

5North Province Area Two

North Province Area Two is found between North Province Area One and East Province Area Three. It’s a tougher area to explore: ideally, players will have their Pokemon at level 50 or above before taking it on. It’s worth visiting because there is a decent reward for beating five trainers in this area: an Outrage TM.

Players will also find wildCopperajah, a Steel-type elephant Pokemon, in this area. Of course, players can train up a Cufant in order to evolve into a Copperajah, but if they’d rather not bother, they can wait and catch one in North Province Area Two instead.

The main draw of visiting this area is to catch a wildDragonite. They’re a rare find, and OG Pokemon fans will be excited to spot it flying around here. Not only will players encounter a regular Dragonite, but they can also fight a Terastallized Dragonite too, with a Steel Tera Type. This would be a great addition to any party, but keep in mind that it has a level of 75. A task for later in the game!

4Asado Desert

Asado Desert is a good spot to explore once players have leveled up their Pokemon to the mid-20s. There are some great treasures to be found here, as well as a couple of decent Steel-type Pokemon. Asado Desert can be found between Cascarrafa and Porto Marinada.

Players will find two Steel-type Pokemon here. Firstly, they’ll encounterTinkatink. A Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon, Tinkatink is a great addition to a Pokemon team, with a decent mixture of Fairy-type moves (like the excellent Play Rough) and Steel-type moves (like the powerful Flash Cannon). Players will also findOrthwormhere. This is a strong Pokemon with the ability Earth Eater, which protects it fromGround-typeattacks.

3Casseroya Lake

Casseroya Lake is near West Province Area Two and Three. Players should have Pokemon of around level 50 or above in order to tackle the trainer battles and wild Pokemon encounters here. It is, of course, a goldmine for Water-type Pokemon. There are a couple of Steel-type Pokemon here that are worth catching, too.

For example,Forretresscan be found here. A tough Bug/Steel-type Pokemon, it has some good defensive moves, and it has theuseful abilitySturdy, which prevents it from being knocked out with One Hit KO moves. Also, players may encounterTinkatuff, the evolution of Tinkatink. A Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon, it has some excellent move combinations and is worth catching if players don’t want to spend time leveling up their Tinkatink.

2Great Crater of Paldea

The Great Crater of Paldea is home to some incredible Pokemon. Shown as an enormous gray area on the map, players won’t be able to explore here until later in the game. The Crater is home to some tough trainer battles. It also has two tough Pokemon that players can encounter in the wild: Garchomp and Magnezone.

While Garchomp won’t interest Steel-type enthusiasts,Magnezonecertainly will. The last evolution of Magnemite and Magneton, Magnezone is an Electric-Steel Pokemon with some excellent stats, particularly in Defense and Sp. Attack. Magnezone has some powerful moves including the incredible Flash Cannon, which causes damage and reduces the enemy Pokemon’s Sp. Defense. Catching it here is the only way to obtain a Magnezone without trading, since Magneton evolves through trade.

1South Province Area Six

South Province Area Six isn’t exactly teeming with Steel-type Pokemon, but it is home to the Steel/Psychic PokemonBronzong, as well asTinkatuffand its fellow Steel/Fairy-type Klefki. Found near thecity of Alfornada, players should explore this area once their team reaches the early 40s. South Province Area Six is a fun challenge with a decent reward for battling seven trainers: the TM for Flare Blitz.

Let’s talk about Bronzong for a moment. The evolution of Bronzor, Bronzong has particularly good stats in Defense and Sp. Defense, and is worth catching if players don’t fancy evolving their Bronzong. Plus, players can find Klefki here, a Steel/Fairy keyring Pokemon. Klefki is a good all-rounder in terms of stats.
