Nintendo revealed the patch notes for thePokemon Scarlet and Violet1.1.0 update that’s scheduled to roll out globally on Thursday, December 1. The second-ever update to Game Freak’s latest mainlinePokemonRPGs will arrive exactly two weeks following thePokemon Scarlet and Violetday-one patchthat bumped the games' version up to 1.0.1.
WithPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Game Freak continued its track record of releasing highly successful 3DPokemontitles suffering from some notable technical issues. Their lackluster performance on the Switch is largely responsible for the fact thatScarlet and Violetdebuted assome of the lowest-ratedPokemongames ever.

The newly shared changelog states that thePokemon Scarlet and Violetupdate 1.1.0 packs multiple bug fixes, but only mentions one, in particular: a fix for a minor issue that would cause battle music not to be played correctly during Victory Road storyline clashes with the Elite Four and the Top Champion. The only other change that was notable enough to make it into the patch notes is the start of Season 1 Ranked Battles, which will become available at the in-game Battle Stadium, similar to the one featured inPokemon Sword and Shield.
In a new update posted to the games’support page, Nintendo acknowledgedPokemon Scarlet and Violetperformance issues, stating that its work on other improvements to the games is ongoing. “Our goal is always to give players a positive experience,” the company said, while also apologizing to fans for “the inconvenience.”
While Nintendo’s support page forPokemon Scarlet and Violetdoesn’t state whether the games can be updated directly to version 1.1.0, Game Freak’s track record suggests that’s the case. Even if it isn’t, the process of downloading multiple updates should be automatic, meaning that confirming the update prompt once should initiate all available downloads, as was the case withPokemon Sword and Shieldupdates. But in that case, since the day-one patch required around 1GB of free system or microSD storage on its own, updating the games now might necessitate a bit more memory. Either way, the newly announced patch notes don’t disclose the size of the 1.1.0 update forPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Despite the public backlash over the technical aspects ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet, the RPG duo already proved to be a roaring success, managing 10 million in combined sales over the first three days, thus becoming the fastest-selling Nintendo game ever. Even many vocal critics are praising the mainline series' transition to a true open world with exploration-focused gameplay that’s heavily influenced byPokemon Legends: Arceus. What remains to be seen is whether the performance side ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetcan eventually inch closer to its acclaimed gameplay formula.
