Summary

If any region in thePokemonuniverse deserves to be the setting ofPokemon Legends: Arceussequel, it’s the Kalos Region.Pokemon X and Yare infamous among the community for lacking a definitive third version to follow-up on hanging plot threads, and aPokemon LegendsKalos game would be the perfect opportunity to right this wrong. Not only would this game be the perfect way to give Gen 6 the love it deserves, but the sequel toPokemon Legends: Arceuswould have the perfect Arceus stand-in if it was set in the Kalos Region.

AlthoughPokemon X and Yscaled back the number of new Legendaries and Mythicals it added to the series to match the overall lower number of new mons added, the ones that were added are full of fantastic lore potential. Legendaries like Xerneas and Yveltal hold important roles as the embodiments of life and death, and without a definitive Gen 6 game, Zygarde missed out on having its time in the spotlight. Gen 6’s Mythicals like Diancie and Volcanion would also make interesting mascots of aPokemon LegendsKalos game, but the clear choice for this role is Hoopa.

Hoopa Would be the Most Likely Mythical Mascot of a Pokemon Legends Kalos

Like theMythicals Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi, Hoopa is another small but powerful creature that holds a hidden secret, making it a great candidate for aPokemon Legends Kalosmascot. Hoopa is based on a djinn or genie and holds the power to travel through space and time and even warp dimensions using its rings. This power is the perfect set up for the plot of aPokemon Legends Kalosgame as it could be the reason that the player ends up transported to the past, similar to how Arceus is able to do so at the start ofPokemon Legends: Arceus.

Aside from the ability to warp time and space with its hoops, Hoopa also has the ability to transform into its Unbound Form and become a massive, monstrous being capable to mass destruction. A battle withHoopa Unboundwould be an epic final boss fight of aPokemon LegendsKalos game, and it would fit the in line with similar boss fights against Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia inPokemon Legends: Arceus. Hoopa Unbound also has the ability to summon other Legendary Pokemon and send them into a frenzy, and it could utilize this power in the game to up the stakes of its boss fight.

The Cufant in the room when fans talk about anew Kalos game is the role Zygardewould play in it, since the Legendary never got the chance to star in its own title. While Zygarde would make a worthy candidate for aPokemon LegendsKalos mascot, Hoopa fits the bill much better given its time and space-warping powers. Instead, Zygarde could be the point of study for this game’s version of Galaxy Expedition Team. The group might have one of Zygarde’s cells and task the player with searching for others, only for Hoopa Unbound to end up summoning Zygarde Complete Forme through one of its portals.

Xerneas and Yveltal could come into play in this game as other beings summoned by Hoopa Unbound and offer similar boss fights to those against Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia. With Hoopa Unbound’s ability to summon other Legendaries through portals, the floodgates would be open for Legendaries from across the franchise to appear as boss fights, potentially as post-game content.Dianciecould also be a factor in aPokemon LegendsKalos game as it’s said to be born from a Carbink that undergoes a mysterious transformation, setting the game up to potentially explore this phenomenon as well.
