Red Dead Redemption 2is set in an expansive open world that contains so many little details that players are still uncovering them to this day. It may come as a surprise to some to learn that there’s actually more in the game than what players can ordinarily access. While this content typically can’t be accessed on console versions of the game, the PC version can be explored and thus hidden files can be examined, or even utilized as originally intended, like with this mod.

The mod is called Cut Dialogue Enhanced and was shared by a user called roastedflamingo on Nexus Mods. According to the creator, it was partially based upon another mod called Cut Dialogue Restoration and Enhancement, but this one goes a step further, restoring everything that mod did and more. According to the mod’s description, dialogue tied to shopping, getting into a fight, winning a fight, and dodging bullets have all been restored. Arthur has also had some of his lines when dealing with law enforcement restored, though what the player hears will largely be dependent uponArthur Morgan’s Honor.
All in all, roastedflamingo states that hundreds of audio lines have been restored.Red Dead Redemption 2players may be somewhat surprised at this, as the game’s massive scope means that it already has thousands of voice lines from Arthur and others. For players who have alreadyplayedRed Dead Redemption 2for hundreds or thousands of hours, though, this mod may help to freshen up the game somewhat.
Unfortunately, the restored dialogue in this mod may make players think about everything that could have been. Diehard fans ofRed Dead Redemption 2likely know that a lot of things were either cut from the game entirely or significantly changed. For years, players theorized that Mexico would eventually play a role in either theRed Dead Onlinecomponent or as DLC, due to files discovered in the game. However, theRed Dead Redemption 2Mexico mapultimately went unused, and what Rockstar Games originally intended for it remains unknown.
As game development progresses, not everything the team works hard on will make the final cut. Whether Rockstarcut content fromRed Dead Redemption 2due to some kind of internal constraints like a lack of time or simply because they no longer fit the image the developers wanted to present, it’s interesting to see what kind of work went into the game that’s ordinarily hidden from players.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
