While fans of the classic survival-horror gameClock Towermay never get a new entry in the series, the next best thing is coming a little earlier than expected.Remothered: Broken Porcelain, which is essentially a spiritual successor to theClock Towerseries, has had its release date moved up by one week and is now launching on October 13 instead of October 20.
EVP of Global Marketing at Modus Games, Shane Bierwith, offered a reasonable explanation as to why the decision was made to releaseRemothered: Broken Porcelaina week earlier than expected. As pointed out by Bierwith, October is an “incredibly busy month” for the video game industry, especially when it comes to horror games.

While not explicitly stated by Bierwith, it seems quite likely thatRemothered’s release datewas moved so that the game wouldn’t have to compete withAmnesia: Rebirth, specifically. After all,AmnesiawasRemothered’s only serious competition on October 20 prior to the release date change, and it’s now actually sharing the spotlight with the newG.I. Joethird-person shooter. However, withRemotheredandG.I. Joesignificantly different games, it’s safe to say that they won’t exactly be directly competing with one another, which isn’t the case withRemotheredandAmnesia.
Regardless, Bierwith was right that October is shaping up to be a big month for horror game fans, with three major releases currently scheduled. Besides the aforementionedRemothered: Broken PorcelainandAmnesia: Rebirth, horror fans also haveThe Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hopeto look forward to as well. Between the three of them, horror fans should have plenty of new games to play this Halloween.
In the meantime,Remotheredis shaping up to be quite impressive, especially for fans of stealth-horror games likeClock Tower. In the game, players explore thecreepy Ashmann Inn, all the while avoiding psychotic individuals that are actively attempting to hunt them down and kill them. Early previews have been mostly positive, but it will be interesting to see how fans react to the full experience.
The firstRemotheredwas generally well-received by fans of the genre, though the Switch port left a somewhat sour taste in some fans' mouths. Even so, there’s a reason whyRemothered: Broken Porcelainhas been considered one of themost-anticipated horror games of the year, and for the sake of horror enthusiasts andClock Towerfans, here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.
Remothered: Broken Porcelainlaunches October 13 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
