Housemarque’sReturnalis easily the studio’s most ambitious effort to date, and the hard work it dedicated to developing the game is paying off.Returnalstands as not only one of the highest-rated PS5 exclusives released so far, but one of the highest-rated new video games released in 2021 across all platforms. WhileReturnalhas earned mostly positive reviews, the game is not without its flaws, and Housemarque has been working to address those issues with its post-launch updates.
Returnaldeveloper Housemarque has now released update 1.4.1 for the game, which is available to download now.Returnalplayers with automatic updates turned onwill have to start their current runs over as the game will shut down when it updates, but after the update they should find it easier to unlock some trophies. The latestReturnalupdate makes it possible to unlock the Atropian Survival, Sins of the Mother, and Welcome Home trophies by replaying the end of Act 3.

The newReturnalupdate also fixes some issues with the Daily Challenges, like a bug where players were unable to complete challenges in the Fractured Wastes biome and an issue where the wrong loot would spawn. A rare problem that corruptedReturnalsave gameshas also been fixed, in addition to a “visual issue” that would occasionally happen wheneverReturnalhero Selene scanned new items in the game.
This newReturnalupdate will likely be very much appreciated by fans of the game, especially those that have yet to unlock all of its trophies. However, there is one bigReturnalupdatethat still has no release in sight.
WhileReturnalreviews have been mostly positive, one common complaint about the game is its lack of a save feature. While some think being able to save and quit is antithetical to what the game is trying to accomplish, others have pointed out thatReturnalruns can be rather lengthy. And some players don’t want to have to rely on the PlayStation 5’s rest mode feature if they need to take a break from the game for whatever reason. In response to those complaints, Housemarque has teased that aReturnalsave feature is in the works, but it still has yet to see the light of day.
Housemarque has had issues implementingReturnal’s save feature, so it’s unclear when exactly it might make its way into the game. In the meantime, fans should be able to expect smaller updates that continue improving the overall experience for players.
