While the insider hasn’t elaborated on his cryptic tweet suggesting PlayStation fans should be “Geared up” for the showcase, past reports on the matter point to theMGS3remake being the likeliest candidate to appear at the event.

Though gamers have long been clamoring for aMGS3remake, a modernized version of the fourth installment in the series is another popular ask among the fandom. Not least becauseMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotsremains effectively trapped on the PS3, whereasSnake Eatereventually made its way to everything from the Xbox 360 to handhelds like the PS Vita and 3DS. The PS3’s exotic Cell architecture always made porting its exclusives a substantial challenge for developers, which is widely believed to be the main reason whyMGS4never made its way to any other platform.

The upcoming PlayStation Showcase is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 24, starting at 1pm PST. As per usual, Sony intends to stream the event on both Twitch and YouTube. It remains to be seen whether theMetal Gear Solidseries ends up as one of the highlights of the broadcast, assuming it does make an appearance during the showcase.
