Summary
Content Warningwas released as this year’sApril Fools gameby Landfall Publishing. It seems to be lovingly based on 2023’s indie craze,Lethal Company, involving similar goofy antics with friends while avoiding encounters with the game’s terrifying inhabitants (or, perhaps more accurately, provoking them for good camera footage).
As silly as the game can be, with the task of recording various monsters and the player’s teammates encouraging these shenanigans, the game is ultimately a horror experience and can have some terrifying encounters. These come thanks to the creepy critters that live in the Old World, some admittedly scarier than others.

10Ear
Reacts To Sound And Looks Disturbing
This entity makes the list primarily for its sinister appearance. The skeletal creature skitters around the Old World on all fours, its body covered in ears and its head just one great big ear. Immediately, this might hint to players what its primary strengths and weaknesses are. The Ear hunts based on noise.
Should the player or any of their friends make the slightest peep around the Ear, it will make a grab for them. Fortunately, it’s not the most dangerous enemy, as it only attacks players for a moment, dealing very little damage. It also doesn’t like loud noises, so players can scare it away by shouting wildly at it.

9Weeping
Weeping Angel-Like Enemy That Makes Players Do A Captcha Test
This entity perhaps takes its file name of “Weeping” from its behavior, which is similar to the infamousDoctor Whoenemies, Weeping Angels. Just like the Weeping Angels, the Weeping can only move when no players are looking at them. Just like the Weeping Angels, the Weeping is a seemingly inanimate statue-like structure, taking the form of a weeping iron maiden torture device.
Unlike the Weeping Angels, though, the Weeping forces other players to complete a captcha-style test to free their trapped friend once it catches one of the players. Players have 90 seconds and three attempts to free their friend but, unfortunately, solo players will find the Weeping to be an instant death sentence.

8Dog
Cute Robo-Dog With A Deadly Turret
The entity simply known by its file name of “Dog” is undeniably terrifying, and can pose a huge threat to players. It is a robot dog-like creature with a mounted turret on its back, and it patrols areas of interest in the Old World. It scans its environment with a sinister red light, and any players caught in this light will soon find themselves under bombardment from its turret.
While this turret isn’t very accurate, it fires rapidly and can easily wipe out a whole party. The only reason Dog doesn’t rank higher is because it’s just too cute! Despite the inherent threat it poses, it just looks like the Boston Dynamics robot dog with a great big smiley face on the front. If not friend, then why friend-shaped?

7Spider
Getting Caught In Its Webs Can Easily Be Fatal
Beware to any arachnophobes who want to giveContent Warninga play. Like with almost any horror game, spiders are present, unless players choose to banish them withthe NoMoreSpooders mod. To make matters worse for players who aren’t so keen on eight-legged creepy crawlies, these spiders are eldritch horrors, with flat faces that can split open to shoot web balls and pose a very real threat to characters exploring the Old World.
The spider’s webs must be avoided at all costs, as they are very hard to escape from and the spider will prioritize eating anyone caught in them. They can take away a quarter of a player’s health in one bite, and they can be particularly deadly when encountered alongside any other monster.

6Knifo
Creepy Child-Like Monster Who Pursues With A Knife
This entity has an appearance like a child under a bedsheet pretending to be a ghost. Oh, and also wielding a knife. As its file name suggests, Knifo is primarily interested in stalking the players with a knife and stabbing them with it at any chance they get. It can be a very dangerous enemy, killing players in only a few slashes.
A player’s best hope is to weave and dodge and hope it misses, or to bait out its lunge attack, as it takes a moment to recover from that. Thankfully, if players can evade it for long enough, it will disappear after about 30 seconds. To add to its creep factor, its appearance will likely be accompanied by child-like giggles.

5Larva
Deadly Critter Likely To Throw Players Around
This creepy-looking centipede-like creature may be one of the first big threats that players encounter, as it can appearquite early in the gameand prove to be devastating. It attacks by picking up a player and throwing them. This will deal at least half damage to a player but can kill them instantly depending on where they’re thrown.
If another player is nearby when the Larva picks someone up, it will attempt to throw the player at one of their friends. If players spot the Larva, the trick is definitely to run away, as it is normally quite slow and easy to outrun. However, it seems to pick up speed over time. Regardless, if players bump into them when they’re low on stamina, these creepy crawlies can spell a player’s end.

4Barnacle Ball
Keep Far Away From It Or Risk Some Devastating Attacks
This horrific monstrosity is basically a barnacle-covered shell with four squid tentacles protruding from the bottom, allowing it to move. If players spot it, they should keep their distance, as its most devastating attacks are at close range, but even that isn’t a fool-proof plan. Its primary attack does a drastic amount of damage, but it also has a nearby area of effect move that pulls nearby players, enemies, and objects toward it.
If it combines this with its main attack, it can be almost instantly fatal. However, it also has a ranged spitting attack, although this does do significantly less damage. Overall, it is a disgusting and deadly monster best avoided at all costs.

3Snatcho
Stalks Players From The Dark
This dangerous monster is particularly scary due to the method it uses to hunt players. Primarily found outside, but also occasionally found in structures, it lurks in the darkness, silently sneaks up on players, and grabs them before they even know it’s there. Its one weakness is light. If its body is entirely exposed to light, it will disappear, retreating into the darkness.
With this in mind, if a friend finds themselves caught by a snatcho, that’s when it’s time to bring out the torches, flares, or even the light of the camera to scare it off.Otherwise, said friend is a goner. Some of the scariest moments in the game come from innocently turning around just in time to catch a glimpse of the snatcho ready to pounce.

2Big Slap
Giant Monstrosity That Almost Certainly Spells Death
The horrific entity known as “Big Slap” is somewhat reminiscent of the Titans inAttack on Titan. It’s one of the biggest monsters, double the size of a player, and it looks eerily human but clearly disturbing. This massive creature is as terrifying as it is because, while it doesn’t actively hunt for players like some monsters, seeing it almost certainly spells death.
It cannot be outrun, letting out a horrific scream as it chases its prey, and kills with a lunge attack or an eponymous “big slap” attack. If players hear its loud breathing, be on high alert. The only saving grace is that Big Slap rarely shows up until players start getting to later levels.

1Flicker
Messes With Lights And Sound And Instantly Kills Players Who See It
The Flicker is one of the scariest looking and deadliest entities in the game, meaning any encounter with it is certain to terrify players. It’s a skeletal squid-like creature, with a single red eye in the center of its face. Its name presumably comes from the fact that it causes any nearby lights to flicker, providing a cue for its appearance and warning players that it is time to get out of Dodge.
Perhapsthe most eldritch of all the monsters, staying near it for too long causes it to emit a red light. Any players who catch a glimpse of this “red light event” will be unable to look away and, after a few seconds, will be instantly killed and consumed by the Flicker. Thankfully, as with Big Slap, it is a very rare encounter.
