Bond levels are one of the many mechanics inScarlet Nexus. Bond levels are the game’s version of friendship levels, not unlike confidant ranks inPersona 5, and they operate similarly as well. Here’s how players can increase bond levels inScarlet Nexus.

Yuito and Kasane,ScarletNexus' two protagonists, meet a number of allies who work with the OSF and have varying abilities that come in handy. Because Yuito and Kasane’s storylines vary so heavily, especially further into the campaign, some characters Yuito will be closer with, and others will be primary party members for Kasane. Regardless, the bond system operates the same for both characters. Increasing bond levels will offer more abilities down the line when Kasane and Yuito initiate their SAS links.

Scarlet Nexus Bond Episodes

Much likePersona 5’s confidant events,Scarlet Nexusfeatures bond episodes, where Yuito and Kasane can spend time with their allies to increase their friendship. While some bond episodes may initiate through brain messages or through the main story, most others will occur in the OSF hideout during Standby Phases, or breaks inScarlet Nexus' storyline.

Players can engage in a bond episode by speaking with their squadmates in the hideout and selecting the “Bond Episode” option, if it’s available. If a bond episode isn’t available yet, there are a few other ways players can increase friendship levels with Yuito and Kasane’s allies.

Other Ways to Increase Bond Levels in Scarlet Nexus

One easy way to increase bond levelsis just byfightingScarlet Nexus' enemieswith allies. Allies will often be assigned to Yuito and Kasane’s squads to complete missions. Additionally, replying to brain messages when applicable instead of ignoring them will increase bond levels inScarlet Nexus.

And like giving gifts inPersona 5, another way to rapidly increase bond levels is by giving companions presents. Navigate to any shop, which are located next toScarlet Nexus' save pointsincluding inside the hideout, and tab over to the “Presents” section under “Exchange.” Here, players can exchange their gathered resources for items. After that, simply speak to an ally in the hideout and choose the corresponding option to give them a gift.

By increasing bond levels,Yuito and Kasane’s allieswill have enhanced abilities through the SAS link, primarily in the form of Assault Visions and SAS Abilities. For example, reaching bond level 6 with Hanabi, Yuito’s childhood friend, grants the flame thrower attack and enhances the pyrokinesis ability. Reaching level 6 with Tsugumi increases crush damage and enemy item drop rates.

Scarlet Nexusis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
