Modders are always looking for ways to improve the 2011 Bethesda epicSkyrim, and one person has introduced high-poly visuals to NPCs to make them look more realistic. Given its sheer popularity, it’s not surprising thatThe Elder Scrolls 5has gone down asone of the best open-world gamesin recent memory. Much of this success, as well as its longevity, comes from the modding community, which has dedicated itself to keeping the slowly aging RPG up to date.

Because it’s been out for over 11 years now, the game is now looking a little dated. However, there are plenty ofgraphics mods out there forSkyrim, which give the game a visual boost. There are means and ways of keeping the legendary title fresh by injecting some high-quality graphical tweaks. Of course, what a game looks like is not always the most important thing, but seeing asTES5is still very much in the gaming limelight, there are those who have taken it upon themselves to make sure it’s in as good a condition as it can be.

That’s where Nexus Mods users like ace come into the picture. As spotted by DSO Gaming, a new “lore friendly” mod forSkyrimthat’s been given the lengthy name of “High Poly True to Vanilla NPC Overhaul” brings detailed characters to the game. As the name suggests, it adds high-quality figures to the world, which includes high-poly heads, expressive facial animations, as well as an overhaul of hair and beards. The creator says that some NPCs have only been adjusted slightly while others have been completely resculpted, but all the work was edited by hand.

Skyrimhas plenty of memorable NPCs, as well as some more background ones, who make up much of the game’s world and story. As such, players are constantly interacting with other characters and while, as mentioned above, visuals aren’t everything, there will be those who would be interested in talking to much more realistic looking denizens of Tamriel.

GivenSkyrim’s legacy,The Elder Scrolls 6will have a lot to live up towhen it finally comes out. There’s no telling what the next installment in Bethesda’s long-running fantasy series will be like. But if there’s a strong modding community, as there is withTES5, then the next entry could potentially have just as long a shelf life as the current installment.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
