The Elder Scrollsseries is one of the longest running RPG franchises in all of gaming. WithMorrowindrecently celebrating its 20th anniversary, Bethesda’s epic has a long history and a huge community of supporters. Given thatSkyrimis the latest and most successful entry, the fan base is still knee-deep in the game’s lore, but there are those who have been adding to it this past decade or so with the implementation of mods. Sometimes these custom add-ons include crossovers with other franchises, like one created by modder Pande4360.
Called “Star Wars Redux 2022,” Pande4360’s mod is an updated version of a previous one. This newest iteration was uploaded a few days ago to Nexus Mods and, as the name implies, allows players to get theirStar Warson within the world ofSkyrim. For starters, it replaces all Civil War soldiers with Stormtroopers, and all the Stormcloaks with Rebels. There are also, of course, lightsabers and blasters, and it’s even possible to use the lightsaber to block incoming shots. A video shows the mod in action, and with it demonstrated in third-person perspective, it really gives it an almost retroStar Warsgame vibe.

This is also not the first time someone has incorporated the ubiquitous sci-fi saga into Bethesda’s open-world RPG. Last August, another fan used a series ofmods to turnSkyrimintoStar Wars. This particular effort, which is called “Star Wars Worlds” and created by user gg77, changes the visuals of theElder Scrollstitle so that it more closely resembles the movies' aesthetics. It also allows players to control both Darth Vader and Darth Maul.
Given that the original three films make up one of themost beloved movie trilogies in history, it’s not surprising that some fans are keen to reimagine them in one of the most successful RPGs in recent memory.Skyrimmay be a fantasy game, but both of these mods show that there is room for something that leans towards science fiction, bringing both of the popular franchises together into one place.
As for where the series goes from here,The Elder Scrolls 6is still elusive, with fans now starting to get impatient. As popular asSkyrimis, it’s been out for more than ten years and has had numerous re-releases as each new generation emerges. Eventually the next installment will make itself known, but for now, modders seem content to keep altering theElder Scrolls 5. It will be interesting to see what other movie franchises people will implement next.
