A video where a player captured an incredible moment between one ofThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s fearsome dragons and a deadly giant proved, once again, thatSkyrimmay still be a bit glitchy after all these years, but that’s just a part of its charm. The video shows that the two creatures would make a frightening duo if that’s what Bethesda intended, instead of the result of a very cool glitch that the player was lucky to record.
Skyrim’s dragons were a focal pointof the now-legendary game’s pre-release advertising. Once the arrival of the dragon Alduin kicks off the game’s opening moments in dramatic style, a number of dragons can be encountered and fought while exploring the massive open world. Giants, on the other hand, don’t play a role in the game’s larger narrative, but still make for a challenging fight if the player gets a little too close to their camps. Many a low-level Dragonborn has been smashed to paste by one swift blow by a giant’s club.

The glitch in question, captured bySkyrimsubreddit user SebastianChantre, combines the two frightening enemies into an epic sight. The seemingly new class of enemyis one ofSkyrim’s fire-breathing dragonswith a club-wielding giant riding on its back. In the post title, SebastianChantre claims that they’ve played well over 1,000 hours ofSkyrim, yet this grim vision of death is easily the craziest thing they’ve ever seen.
The giant isn’t necessarily riding the dragon. It’s not seated on the dragon’s back like Daenerys or Jon Snow charging into battle in an episode ofGame Of Thrones. SebastianChantre appeared to be walking a road near Whiterun, one of the cities players can explore early on in theirSkyrimexperience, when the dragon rips through the fog. Through the magic ofSkyrim’s fortuitous and endlessly entertaining glitches, the dragon has a giant standing precariously atop it, just behind its right wing.
SebastianChantre had two companions in tow: Lydia, a follower available in the base game, and Inigo, a Khajiit companion available onlythrough aSkyrimmod. Inigo has over 7,000 lines of unique dialogue, according to its Skyrim Nexus mod page. When the mod’s creator Smartbluecat created Inigo, they probably didn’t think that one of the 7,000 lines they created would accidentally deliver a perfect bit of dry wit to highlight the absurdity of the moment. “Let me give you some room,” he says, likely as a response to SebastianChantre’s character moving a little too close to Inigo. But given the context of the scene, it’s as if the rest of Inigo’s thought was “so you may process this madness.”
