Releasing in Autumn 2024,Sonic x Shadow Generationsfeatures remastered graphics and runs at 60 FPS. The trailer revealed thatSonic’s iconic rival, Shadow the Hedgehog, is playable. In the originalSonic Generations, Shadow was one of the rival bosses that players faced as Modern Sonic, serving as a nostalgic call-back toSonic Adventure 2’s boss fight with Shadow. InSonic x Shadow Generations, Shadow gets his own story campaign, similar to the Episode Shadow DLC fromSonic Forces.
What is Sonic x Shadow Generations?
Shadow’s campaign has a set of unique levels based on his past playable appearances, such as Final Chase and Westopolis. One of the biggest surprises in this trailer were two enemies associated with Shadow’s past, teasing rematches againstBlack Doom fromShadow the Hedgehogand the Biolizard fromSonic Adventure 2. Sega also teased that Shadow will play differently than Sonic, using “never-before-seen powers and abilities” unique to Shadow in this game. For example, the trailer shows Shadow using Chaos Control to teleport to nearby enemies.
TheSonic x Shadow Generationsleaksclued some fans in ahead of time, but many were still excited about seeing the trailer. Some observant fans noticed howSonic Generationswasn’t included in the recent Sega Steam sale, leading some to speculate the current version of the game will be delisted to make room for the upcoming remaster.
