The inventory inSons of the Forestis like a flat tool bag carrying collectibles and craft items. While the bag doesn’t come with a specific storage limit, things that players put in it have thresholds. And when the limit is reached, there’s a need to drop some items so that new materials can fit in.

But dropping items inSons of the Forestis just easier said than done. The game currently has a complex mechanic that keeps most things in the bag, allowing only specific items to be discarded. This guide, therefore, explains how to drop itemsand offers some workarounds.
How To Drop Inventory Items In Sons Of The Forest
There are two ways to drop items inSons of the Forest. Press G on the keyboard (B or circle on the controller) to drop or unequip the items at hand. Or right-click onrotten foodto exclude them from the inventory.
The dropping mechanism only works for stuff that doesn’t fit the inventory. Pressing the drop button on other objects sends them back to the storage—it doesn’t remove them. For example, pressing G while carrying a log drops it. But doing so while carrying a smaller thing, say, a rock, will send that item to the inventory.

The only way to actually get rid of collected objects is by consuming or crafting. It’s also possible to build a storage case so that somematerials stay in the base. But that’s only a workaround since the game has no real drop button in the early access.
How To Empty The Inventory
To remove stuff from the inventory, build storage shelvesand store collected items on them. A storage shelf is a wooden case that can carry crafting materials, foods, drinks, and other comparable objects. (Wall shelves, too, can be used for the same purpose.)
For larger items, create Stick, Bone, Rock, and Log storages. Mannequins are also storage units—theystore armor. But most players have problems using them, as they seem unfunctional during the game’s early access.

How To Tell Kelvin To Drop Items
Dropping items is one ofthe seven commands Kelvin understands. To use it, simply select “Drop Here” or “Give to Me” in the notepad. Some commands like “Gather Logs” do not need a separate drop order since he will place them near the campsite.
