Witches are not all made equal, with some witches being much more powerful than others. Each witch has their own unique type of magic, along with an array of common spells that any witch can learn. Here are the strongest witches inSoul Eater, ranked by their strength and abilities.
8Angela Leon
Angela is the youngest witch in the series, and therefore the one who has the least mastery over magic. Despite her weakness, she is still a target of humans hoping to hone and use her power for their own ends, which leads Mifune to protect her as a bodyguard.
As a young witch, Angeladoes not yet have much of a catalogue of spells, due to having little training in controlling her powers. The only spell she is ever seen using is her invisibility spell, but even then, she cannot use the spell to cover her entire body.
7Sofia Ressa Valk II
Sofia Ressa Valk II is a rather unique character as she only appears in the firstSoul Eateraudio drama, yet that does not diminish her abilities as a witch. Masquerading as a friendly tour guide, Sofia soon revealed herself to be a vengeful witch desiring revenge on the Witch Order.
Sofia has mastery over various magic spells, which she can use to create barriers and attack her opponents. Her specialty is necromancy, which she plans to use to resurrect her ancestor as part of her revenge. Though she only ever appears in the audio drama, it’s clear her powers and abilities are significant.
6Eruka Frog
A frog-themed witch with a penchant for cowardice, Eruka Frogis often seen as a henchman or lackeystrung along by the much more powerful witches that appear throughout the series. Despite this, Eruka is certainly a strong witch in her own right, with mastery over several aspects of magic.

Eruka’s main offensive magic is creating Tadpole Bombs, while using transformation magic to turn into a frog and get away. She also has a unique proficiency for Calculation Spells, which can be used to support Spatial spells and more. Though she has mastery over a variety of spells, she is far from being considered a significant foe by the various weapon meisters.
5Kimial Diehl
Though a witch, Kim Diehl’s specialties in magic made her an outcast among the other witches, forcing her to hide her true nature outside of the Witches' Realm. She eventually joins the D.W.M.A. as Kim Diehl, gaining a meister’s powers along with her innate witch powers. While Kim can fightwith her partner Jacqueline O’Lantern Dupreas a meister, certain situations often forced Kim to reveal her magical powers.
Kim’s magical specialty is that of regeneration magic, which goes against the witches' destructive impulse. Regeneration magic can not only heal wounds in seconds, but even repair objects. Kim has mastery over other spells as well, including calculation spells and transformation spells.
4Shaula Gorgon
Appearing only inSoul Eater NOT!, Shaula Gorgon is a member of the Gorgon Sisters, a trio of powerful witches. Shaula was the weakest of the three, a fact that irritated her to no end. This led her to attempt to attack D.W.M.A. to prove her supremacy. Though her attempt ultimately failed, there’s no denying that she was quite the threat.

Shaula’s main specialty is in manipulation magic, which she uses to control a number of students within D.W.M.A. She can also cast a variety of high-level spells including Soul Protect, demonstrating her prowess as a Gorgon Sister.
3Mabaa
The enigmatic Mabaa is the Queen of the Witch Order, therefore making her the ruler of all witches. Despite this, Mabaa is a very reasonable person, caring more about the well-being of her fellow witches over her instinctive desire to cause mayhem.
Mabaa is a master of spatial magic, allowing her to teleport herself and others at will and create spatial barriers that can even cut off spaces from the outside world. Along with her mastery of other sorts of spells, Mabaa is easily one of the strongest witches in the series.
2Arachne Gorgon
The eldest of the Gorgon Sisters, Arachne is a powerful witch that is feared even by other witches and her own sister, Medusa. Arachne’s main desire is to drown the world in madness,and she will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Arachne’s magic is spider-themed, and generally focuses on spreading madness to whoever she meets. She can create spiderwebs that spread madness incredibly quickly and use spiders as scouts for gathering information. This ability is magnified by her personal Madness Wavelength, which can affect others' minds just by being close to Arachne.
1Medusa Gorgon
The last of the three Gorgon Sisters, and the most significant witch in the series. Initially masquerading as the nurse at D.W.M.A., Medusa soon revealed herselfas the main villain of the series, creating the black blood and plotting the resurrection of the kishin.
Medusa’s magic is snake-based, utilizing the myriad of snakes hidden in her body in her spells. She can implant these snakes into another person’s body as either a tracker or a communicator, or simply use them as projectile attacks. Medusa can even split up her own soul, allowing her to survive even certain death. While Medusa may not be the most powerful witch on paper, her ingenuity and persistence make her the most dangerous of the many witchese that threaten the world.
