Spider-Man PS4’s combat system makes total use of Peter Parker’s abilities as Spider-Man by allowing players to utilize all of his super-human strength, agility, and endurance. However, whileMiles Moralesshares these abilities, he also has a few that are unique to him alone, and the upcomingSpider-Man: Miles Moralesplans to implement them.

Over on its official Twitter account, Insomniac Games confirmed thatSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswill allow players to use Miles' Venom Shock and camouflage abilities in combat. On top of this, they’ll have access to web-slinging gadgets and skills similar to what Peter has inSpider-Man PS4.

Miles' Venom Shock ability lets him generate massive amounts of energy and channel it into people or objects like it were electricity. When it comes into contact with people, it can temporarily paralyze them, and it packs enough of a punch to shatter chains and ropes. It can even take down villains likeVenomwith only a few strikes. The camouflage ability is self-explanatory. But a worthy note for it is that it also works on anything Miles is wearing, and is potent enough to make him effectively invisible.

Insomniac didn’t mention how it would introduce these abilities into the game, but the Venom Strike could simply be worked into the basic combat system. Miles can use it to perform his launchers and get his air combos started. Some of his more unique combos could also end with the Venom Blast’s paralyzing effect, keeping enemies temporarily immobile the same way webbing them up would.

On the other hand, the camouflage ability seems like something that would need its own mechanic. Insomniac could slave it to the L3 button since it’s currently the only one on theDualSense controllerthat doesn’t do anything inSpider-Man PS4. When pressed, the button could allow Miles to go invisible for a short amount of time.

Insomniac could even allow Miles to become invisible after performing things like Finishers and other special actions. Some of the action in theSpider-Man: Miles Moralestrailermakes this idea seem like something Insomniac has in mind. The developer could even make it one of the “Suit Powers” Miles can get.

Although, implementing the camouflage ability in this fashion wouldn’t be as interesting as simply having it available on command. Allowing players to control when Miles goes invisible makesSpider-Man: Miles Moralesdifferent fromSpider-Man PS4, as it gives it an extra layer of depth.

Spider-Man Miles: Moralesreleases exclusively for the PlayStation 5 holiday 2020.
