A Lando Cameo in Star Wars Outlaws Would Make a Lot of Sense
According to Ubisoft,Star Wars Outlawswill be set soon after the events ofStar Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and a little while beforeReturn of the Jedi. At this point in the timeline, the Empire has reaffirmed its grip on the galaxy, tightening it even further after the destruction of the first Death Star and the presumed defeat of the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Hoth. While the vast majority of the galaxy is in turmoil, its criminal underworld is thriving, with its core factions all managing to profit from the Empire’s tyranny in one way or another.
It’s in this time period that fans will encounter Kay Vess, a smuggler who just wants to find peace in a galaxy filled with uncertainty and violence. To get that peace, Kay Vess is willing to dive head-first into the galaxy’s criminal underworld and pull off the greatest heist the galaxy has ever seen. InStar Wars Outlaws' most recent trailer, it’s revealed that Kay Vess will need to put together a crew of misfits and lowlifes to achieve her dream, and that could put her on a direct course to meet Lando Calrissian.
Once a renowned smuggler, Sabaac gambler, and entrepreneur,Lando Calrissianhas had a turbulent few years by the timeStar Wars Outlawspresumably takes place. After winning the lucrative mining utopia of Cloud City, Lando became the establishment’s administrator, but after the Empire rolled in and seized control he was forced to evacuate the city. Lando wasted no time in joining the Rebel Alliance, but this didn’t mean he could just leave his criminal career behind him.
In the current canon timeline, Lando’s whereabouts betweenEmpire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jediare relatively unknown, aside from one story in which he and Lobot venture to Jabba’s Palace, and one story that sees Leia rescue Lando from bounty hunters on Arkanis. There’s more than enough room in the current canon timeline for Lando to appear inStar Wars Outlaws.
It’s unconfirmed if Lando Calrissian himself will appear inStar Wars Outlaws, but his iconic Bespin blue outfit will be available as a cosmetic skin for Kay Vess via the game’s Ultimate Edition.
There are a few different ways Lando Calrissian could appear inStar Wars Outlaws. One of the most intriguing options is to have Lando Calrissian make the shortlist for Kay Vess' heist crew, but have him turn down the job due to his involvement withthe Rebel Alliance. This would be a neat way to feature a Lando cameo and tie in wider story beats of the franchise, while also not letting the character overshadowStar Wars Outlaws' original cast.
