Many fans were a bit unsure whenStar Wars Rebelsfirst premiered back in 2014, but legions of devotees to that galaxy far, far away quickly grew to love the series and its characters. It got to the point where, when recent news broke that Disney was looking tocast a live-action version of Sabine WrenfromRebelsin the upcoming Disney+Ahsokaseries, there was a passionate outpouring of emotion from dedicated viewers.

The thing is, much of the fan reaction came in response to the knowledge that Tiya Sircar, who had voiced Sabine through the entire run ofStar Wars Rebels, didn’t appear to be in consideration for the new interpretation of the role. This isn’t exactly uncommon, as seen in the same series withAshley Eckstein voicing Ahsoka TanoinStar Wars Rebels(and all other animated appearances) while Rosario Dawson has taken over the role inThe Mandalorianand her own future standalone seriesAhsoka. But that hasn’t stopped fans from asking, and Sircar has taken notice.

Sircar took to Twitter to respond to the outpouring of love from the fandom, and while she unfortunately didn’t appear to offer any hints regarding a surprise last-minute casting decision, she did post a heartfelt open reply to all of her supporters. “You guys are honestly the best,” Sircar tweeted to her fans in theStar Warsfollowing. “Just wanted to pop on here to tell you I’ve seen all of your sweet tweets and memes and hashtags and calls for petitions and man, y’all really know how to make a girl feel loved. Thanks, friends, LOVE YOU RIGHT BACK.” It may not be the good news fans have been hungry for, but knowing how appreciative she is to see such love directed at her and her character should still tug on a few heartstrings.

The push to see Sircar make the move to live-action as Sabine seemed to gain steam after Katee Sackhoff made her own successful upgrade of the same sort. Aftervoicing the character of Bo Katan Kryzeon bothStar Wars: The Clone WarsandStar Wars Rebels, she then appeared in the 2nd season ofThe Mandalorianas the same character, pulling off a near flawless transition from the vocal booth to the sound stage.

Since Sabine (who also happens to be a Mandalorian warrior just like Bo Katan) bears a resemblance to Sircar, it almost seems like a no-brainer that she could pull off a live-action version of the character. After all, as seen in recent shows likeThe Good Place, she’s certainly no stranger to the camera. After all, how cool would it be to see the torture enthusiast Vicky kicking butt in beskar armor? (That may sound a bit strange and slightly worrying to people who haven’t seenThe Good Place, but rest assured, it would be very cool.)

But whatever happens with Sabine going forward, it’s good to know that so many people have fallen in love with Sircar’s take on the character. All the fantastic Sabine cosplayis proof of that. Whoever takes over in live action will surely keep the ball rolling, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t fondly remember the good old times of approximately 3-7 years ago.
