Unfortunately for oneStardew Valleyplayer, their eagerness to harvest their first Ancient Fruit was ruined. Captain_Dorgengoa shared a brief video of them working on their farm during a rainstorm. The fan had only planted a singleAncient Seeds, which according to the post, was getting close to producing fruit. However, as the video progresses, thunder starts rumbling, and a lightning strike hits the single Ancient Fruit plant in the midst of a bunch of other crops.

The randomness of the moment and the extremely bad luck of having the lightning hit the Ancient Fruit out of every single plant there has caused the audience to both laugh and feel sympathy for the player. The use of aSeinfeldmemejingle at the end of the video certainly adds humor to the moment, but it must have still been frustrating for the player to experience.

The Difficulty of Acquiring Ancient Fruit

While losing any crop that takes a while to grow inStardew Valleywould be upsetting, this is particularly so because Ancient Fruit is one of the hardest plants to acquire early on in the game. Outside of pure luck with aSeed Maker, Ancient Fruit can only be grown by first finding the Ancient Seed artifact, donating it to Gunther in the museum, and collecting the (plantable) Ancient Seeds as a reward. Players only get one seed out of the trade, meaning this player likely doesn’t have more seeds to sow and make up for this loss.

Thankfully, if Captain_Dorgengoa does acquire anotherAncient Seedartifact, they can use it to make a new packet of Ancient Seeds to plant. Although it’s said lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, it might be safest for this player to wait to grow them until theygetStardew Valley’s Greenhouse, which will ensure lightning doesn’t destroy another crop.
