Summary
A shockedStarfieldplayer showed off an NPC in the game that looks like a horrifying abomination, thanks to a strange bug. This is one of the first recorded glitches inStarfieldand hopefully one of the last.
Bethesda games are often praised for their immersive open-worlds, intricate quests, compelling stories, and ground-breaking gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately, one of the negative aspects that fans expect from aBethesda game likeStarfieldare bugs and glitches. Almost every single Bethesda game, fromFallout 3toThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, have been plagued with bugs and glitches when they first launched, and they continue to have problems years afterward. Bethesda fans have anticipated the same issues forStarfieldsince day one, and most of them have accepted the bugs and glitches as a price for admission.

Reddit user OkGuide2802 posted one of thefirst recordedStarfieldglitchesof an NPC that looks like something out of a horror movie. The most glaring feature is the NPC’s head, which is not only upside down, but his face stares blankly ahead, making the image seem even creepier. Almost all of his upper body is missing, as well as his right arm. It also appears as if the NPC is running, with his left arm curled and his left leg kicked outward.
A few months ago, Matt Booty, the head of Microsoft Studios, claimed thatStarfieldwill have the fewest bugs of any Bethesda game. It’s way too early to tell if this bold claim will turn out to be true or not, of course, but it’s possible that this glitched NPC could be a bad sign. It could also be a one-off occurrence, with similar bugs and glitches only happening to a select amount of players. It’s possible that because the game is consistently locked to 30 frames per second on the Xbox Series X/S, the game will be slowed down enough to avoid any major problems.
According to the comments for this post, most fans haven’t run into anything as terrifying as this twisted NPC. OneStarfieldplayer mentioned that they played the game for seven hours and never saw anything close to this type of glitch, and another player claimed to see through a few rocks at one point, but overall, they couldn’t complain. Despite the bad omen of this NPC, it’s certainly possible thatStarfieldcould break the Bethesda cursewhen it comes to bugs and glitches.
Starfieldis available now in early access and officially launches September 6 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
