There are more than a few ways to make credits by committing crimes inStarfield.Players can steal items from their surroundings as well as transport illegal contraband across the galaxy. Heavily populated planets will scan the player’s ship before they are allowed to land. A ship equipped with shielded cargo and scan jammers will raise the percentage chance of passing a scan.Gamers should head to the Red Mileas soon as they can to purchase this equipment. Crimson Fleet ships can also come with these items, so go out and steal one.

If players fail a scan, the authorities will notify them. Fans then have a choice to fight back, accept the fine, or do some jail time. Selecting the fine or surrendering will result inall contraband being confiscated along with stolen items.Contraband will have a yellow marking denoting its illegal status, while stolen items will have a red one. Here is how players can get back their contraband inStarfield.

Security Skill

First things first, the player character will need at least Rank 2 in the security skill. This will allow the player to attempt lockpicking on expert-level locks. A good thief should always havemany digipicks on handfor breaking and entering.

Stolen Items & Seized Cargo

When players have accepted the fine or surrendered, they will automatically fast-travel down to the planet. There will be messages on the screen indicating which items have been removed. The player will always find themselves in the jail area of the local authorities' security facilities.

On New Atlantis, this is the UC building on the right when leaving the landing pad.A locker marked for stolen items will always be in these security areas.Make sure to crouch and stay hidden when breaking into the locker. Successfully picking the lock will open the locker and reveal the confiscated items.Even though the locker is marked for stolen items, it will sometimes contain contraband. Check it if any contraband is missing.

Players can also find a container marked Seized Cargo. This container will be situated at the back of the landing pad in New Atlantis. Search behind the player ship for the yellow lid. Pick open the expert-level lock toregain any valuable contrabandthat was taken. These containers will be found around the landing pads on every spaceport planet, so keep an eye out for them.Always search both containers if anything seems to be missing. If something seems lost, check the New Atlantis containers, as they may end up there. It’s unknown if this is a bug or is intended.
