In yet another case testifying to the sheer versatility of this feature, Reddit user SoullessVoid- recently managed to author a faithful recreation of Ziggy Stardust inStarfield. Their protagonist’s appearance is instantly evocative of the late musician’s stage persona, not least because of a pale complexion standing in stark contrast to a bright red mullet adorning his head. And while Ziggy Stardust’s signature lightning flash makeup isn’t part of theStarfieldcharacter creator, the fan still managed to find a red shade of eye shadow that resembles the one Bowie often wore while in-character.

As if this achievement wasn’t impressive enough on its own, SoullessVoid- even went through the effort of documenting each stage of their design process. They consequently ended up with a couple dozen screenshots of appearance sliders and other settings that they shared alongside theirStarfieldversion of Ziggy Stardust, allowing any and all players to easily recreate the famous fictional character themselves.

While custom characters made in any game that supports them are often shared alongside how-to guides of this sort, the practice is particularly popular among theStarfieldfandom. That’s largely because the RPG’s character creator comes with a wide variety of nondescript sliders—“shape blends,” in the game’s jargon—that can be fairly confusing to use, requiring a lot of trial and error for recreating highly specific appearances.

Despite that UI shortcoming, the player base has so far managed to author some stunningly accurate in-game depictions of both real-world and fictional characters, includingStarfieldversions of Willem Dafoe, Don Ramon, Tony Soprano, Chris Hadfield, and countless other famous faces. Given howStarfield’splayer base already surpassed ten million people within two weeks of the game’s release, this influx of creative character recreations likely won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
