Summary
Steamusers are reporting an achievement fromThe Universimthat’s mysteriously appearing on their accounts despite not committing any gameplay toward the sandbox title.Crytivo’sThe Universim, initially released in 2018 on Steam Early Access, has a usual list of achievements, though the one in question is being shared among players because of its presence.
The Universimcomes from developer and publisher Crytivo (Prehistoric Kingdom,Trail Out,Above Snakes). It’s a massivecity builder gameequipped with God Game elements for ultimate player control, allowing progression to spread “through the ages.” It’s currently in early access, with version 1.0 aiming for a July 08, 2025 release. It currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam. While Crytivo works toward the 1.0 full release ofThe Universim, some players are already seeing achievements being unlocked without even playing the game.

Reddit user DjuncleMC posted a strange finding online regarding one of the 42 achievements ofThe Universim, Genesis. According to the player, they were given the achievement despite never playing the game in the first place. Genesis, which requires the player to build their first simulated civilization in the game, is the only achievement that’s been unlocked, thus prompting the question of its existence.
As it turns out, other Steam players are sharing similar findings, claiming zero gameplay had also occurred. Some have chimed in with their interpretations of how theSteamachievement came to be unlocked. Some suspect it’s an anti-pirating measure; others believe the achievement’s conditions are somehow bugged.
DjuncleMC does respond to a couple of comments in the post regarding the mystery, and they even claimed to have “found the culprit” behind the achievement’s mystery. They note that the achievement condition is set to 0/0 instead of 0/1, forcing Steam to believe the player has already unlocked the achievement in the game. It’s unclear if this is the reason for Genesis mysteriously unlocking for the players, though it seems likely for anearly access game on Steam.
Looking ahead, version 1.0 ofThe Universimis releasing this month according to the game’s release date trailer. There haven’t been reported issues similar to the Genesis achievement, though Crytivo has been focused on quality-of-life improvements for the city-building simulator. Crytivo has been developingThe Universimfor nearly 10 years, first premiering in April 2014. It will be one of the nextSteam Early Access games to launch 1.0. Steam users can wishlist the title now to stay up-to-date with 1.0’s release.
