There are many ways to organize andput items into storageinStranded Deep, including the player’s backpack inventory, discoverable crates, and organization systems that players can craft themselves, like item piles. Although the game’s loading screens contain many handy tips, in-game instructions are limited to a short tutorial. Some players might also forget to utilize item piles when focusing on other priorities like finding food and water. Fortunately, making item piles is relatively straightforward.
What Is An Item Pile?
InStranded Deep, an item pile is a stack of handy resources that players can place on generally any suitable surface on the island, from a small pile of sticks placed by a campfire to a stack of rocks. Players can craft item piles to help manage their inventory, which can quickly become full despite many finite resources in the challenging and oftenbrutal survival game.
Item piles essentially become a type of single storage system for players as once made, players can select them and pull out many or as little of their contents as they wish. It also looks more aesthetically pleasing and can be handy for other activities like base-building.

How To Make An Item Pile
To make an item pile inStranded Deep, players using an Xbox controller must press grab hold of the item they want to make an item pile from, such as a rock or stick, and hold the RB button to open the quick-craft menu wheel. Players must have at least2 of an item to make an item pile. A blue icon is visible in the quick-craft menu next to resources where making an item pile is possible, as not all items are craftable into piles. When players select this option, a blueprint item pile image appears in white on the players' screen, such as a large stack of wood or a pile of rocks. Players can then rotate the item pile into position if they wish using the shoulder buttons LB or RB, pressing A to place it.
Although item piles have some limitations in size, they are a handy way of keeping most equipment together, especially when the backpack or any wooden storage crates become over-saturated, such as hiddencrates in shipwrecks often familiar with pros. There’s nothing worse than dropping crafted tools on the ground to make inventory space only to lose track of their position, especially when many natural resources are finite and scarce. Sometimes, it’s becoming familiar with the basic mechanics that can make all the difference.
