Suicide Squaddirector David Ayer shared new concept artwork for Harley Quinn, who was played by Margot Robbie. Upon its release in 2016,Suicide Squaddidn’t get the best feedback in comparison to the other DC comic book films, which led to James Gunn’sThe Suicide Squadtaking the franchise in a new direction.
TheSuicide Squadartwork is one of many things that Ayer has been putting out for fans to see. Fans are really hoping to see the “Ayer Cut” ofSuicide Squad, but it is very unlikely that the director will get the same result thatZack Snyder got for hisJustice Leaguefilm.

The latest concept artwork shared by Ayer features Harley Quinn and Incubus, the latter of whom was one of the main threats inSuicide Squad. The artwork for Incubus looks a lot more sinister than the design used in the film, almost in the same way that Steppenwolf got an upgrade when he was brought back forthe Snyder Cut of theJustice League. Artwork like the kind seen in these two images allows fans to put ogether the pieces of what Ayer’s vision was going to be if the movie had been released as he wanted.
The photos are great renditions of what the characters were supposed to look like, andHarley Quinn’s costumelooks a little like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman outfit with an obvious deck of card spin. Quinn’s actual costume inSuicide Squadlooked a lot more like streetwear than this design, but both are great renditions of her typical outfit. The fans were very much pleased with the outfit inSuicide Squad,as many people have and still do cosplay as her for events and Halloween.
It’s a shameSuicide Squaddidn’t perform well with audiences, but the silver lining is thatThe Suicide Squadwas more praised b fans and critics. The movie may or may not get a sequel, but it definitely put DC on the map amid its never-ending war with Marvel. Live-action DC films have not always been received well, but it’s good to see things changing.
Ayer and hardcoreSuicide Squadfanswould enjoy seeing his original vision. It doesn’t have to retcon what was done, but it would be nice to see what the director put his time into. It’s only fair, after all, because the studios have been messing with director visions as of late.
