A critical characteristic of the half human and half Atlantean is his natural swimming ability, which Huerta admitted was a skill he did not possess before accepting the aquatic role.

During an interview with Spanish publicationLife and Style, Huerta revealed the now laughable truth that he failed to relay to Coogler when offered theBlack Panther 2role. “I replied that I had never drowned and went back to my managers,” stated Huerta when asked whether he could perform one of the more basic requirements of the king of Atlantis. “We just say yes and then go see what’s up,” said Huerta, knowing that revealing the truth may have impacted his probability of landing the iconic role.

After eight months of swimming lessons, however, Huerta arrived prepared and ready to go for filming in Atlanta. The rest is history, as Huerta looks to usher in a new enticing character for Marvel audiences.Namor is half human and half Atlantean, so he carries numerous superhuman abilities, including endurance, strength, and the ability to breathe underwater.
