TheTerminatorfilm franchise has been accompanied by video game tie-ins all the way since Bethesda Softworks' 1991 DOS game. While each fan has their favorites, few entries are as polarizing as 2019’sTerminator: Resistancefor PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Upon its release a year ago, many hailed it as either the best or worst video game based on the iconic science-fiction franchise. Now, developer Teyon and publisher Reef Entertainment are hoping to breathe new life into the game, as they have announcedTerminator: Resistance Enhanced, a PlayStation 5-exclusive remaster.
Terminator: Resistanceis a first-person shooter set inthe future depicted by 1984’sThe Terminatorand its 1991 sequelTerminator 2: Judgment Day. The game was released to tie in with 2019’sTerminator: Dark Fate, releasing in November 2019 in Europe and Australia with the North American release following this January. The game was met with a mixed reception at launch, with many reviewers criticizing its unimpressive AI and underdeveloped mechanics. Despite this, the game has found a cult following, featuring generally positive reviews on Steam.

Reef Entertainment has announced thatTerminator: Resistance Enhancedwill release on August 05, 2025 exclusively for the PlayStation 5, despitethe original game’s release on Xbox One. The enhanced edition will include all of the post-launch content and balance patches released on PC, as well as visual enhancements aimed to take advantage of the PlayStation 5’s hardware such as 4K visuals and a locked 60 frames-per-second performance target. Owners of the PlayStation 4 version will receive the PlayStation 5 version for free.
Reef Entertainment has also announced thatTerminator: Resistancewill be receiving a narrative-based expansion in summer 2021 on PlayStation 5 and PC.Terminator: Resistance Enhancedwill also release with two physical editions, a standard edition and a collector’s edition that includes a steelbook case,a copy of theTerminator: Zero Daycomic book(previously a digital-only perk), character art cards, and a collector’s case.
