Geld Holds the Magic-Engraved Tech – That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime Season 3 Episode 4

Perpetual Energy Generation For Tempest’s Security

Science Meets Magic

The episode begins with Rimuru and a few others taking a look at a newly-installed technology that manipulates the magicules that occur in the environment to power a powerful barrier that willprotect the city of Tempest from future invasion. It is a brilliant technology developed from an idea Rimuru offered based on the concept of a vinyl record player, and is not dissimilar to the rune magic that pushed Tempest to the forefront of technological development in theTenSurauniverse. Effectively, a series of ground stones are engraved with a magic circle, which draws from the naturally-occurring magical energy in the atmosphere, making it a prototype of a fully automatic perpetual magic generator on top of being an anti-magic barrier that is capable of accumulating (hence decreasing) the magicule density in the area, hence reducing the possibility of monsters and magic beasts spawning in the area.

The tech is also modular, meaning that one can swap the spells being invoked by the circuit and alter them as needed. Some of the most brilliant minds in Tempest have come together to create an interesting magical innovation. Veldora is at first excited about the premise of a device that benefits from magicules, thinking it’s finally his chance to spread his aura for the first time in ages; however, the density of the magicules in his body makes it far too dangerous to allow Veldora to do that, so it’s something that is going to pose a problem if it goes unaddressed.

Reyheim – That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 3 Episode 4

What About Falmuth?

The Missing Archbishop

Rimiru gives Geld the plans he drew up for the construction of a Demon Lord castle for Milim and tells him that he wants him to lead the construction. He tells Geld that he believes he’ll construct a magnificent castle. Geld is lacking in confidence, so he questions if he really has the competence to meet expectations, but everyone reassures him, which was rather wholesome. Rimiru then asks Diablo about the developments in the Falmuth situation. Edamaris is in charge of teaching Youm etiquette in anticipation of negotiations with the nobles. Diablo suggests taking on Edamaris as an ally, noting that the newly-inaugurated King Edward is plotting something.

Benimaru is charged with assembling Tempest’s army, with three distinct units established. Diablo also mentions that Reyheim is yet to return from being summoned to the Kingdom of Ingrassia. Due to the barrier surrounding the city, Diablo’s minion wasn’t able to follow him in, but confirms that Reyheim indeed entered. He also can’t be dead because Diablo’s Unique Skill, Tempter, steals the souls of his minions when they die. The episode followed the overall vibe of the first three, with the set-up for what’s to come building slowly but surely as it has in previous seasons ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime.

Clayman – That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 3 Episode 4

The Mystery of the Mastermind

Who Orchestrated The Tempest Massacre?

Despite Rimiru’s intent to forgive the humans for the things that happened, agents like Hinata Sakaguchi and the Western Holy Church will most likely be on guard regardless of what Rimiru says. Diablo’s Falmuth plans are not likely to fail unless the Church tries something; however, the final scene of this episode ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slimeshows Hinata Sakaguchi having a meeting with the other Great Saints, which means that the Church has begun to make its move, unbeknownst to Rimuru and his allies. Rimiru and the others try to figure out who was the overarching mastermind of the Tempest attack, the person that Clayman referred to in his final moments. The attack was the result of the convergence of multiple interests, and the influence of the unknown mastermind.

There were most likely multiple masterminds because, despite the fact that the interests of the Western Holy Church (and Hinata Sakaguchi by extension); Demon Lord Clayman; Edamaris and the Kingdom of Falmuth, who’d hoped that Hinata would eliminate Rimuru, setting into motion the last season’s most significant events; there are areas in which the interests don’t align. However, he escaped Hinata and evenawakened as a Demon Lord. Shuna is tasked with investigating the ledgers and merchants who did business with Clayman and went to his castle, while Diablo investigates the merchants who did business with Falmuth leading up to the attack on Tempest, because they’re most likely to have been instigating war behind the scenes because it is such a lucrative business. Rimiru assigns his subordinates various jobs aligned with their various roles, which is where the episode title “Everyone Has a Part to Play” comes to make sense. The seating of Hinata Sakaguchi with the other Saints as a final scene is an extremely exciting development, and the fifth episode is definitely not one to be missed.
