Apex Legends' battle royale modes are fast and frantic by their very nature with fast-paced gunplay, an emphasis on mobility, and Legend abilities - all three of which are closely related to one another. Since most fights inApex Legendstake place from mid-to-close range, squads are better off using weapons with rapid-fire capabilities. Assault rifles like the R-301 and Flatline are staples in players' arsenals, and it also isn’t hard to find someone carrying a submachine gun like the C.A.R. or the R-99 to help in close-combat.
Armed and Dangerous flips the weapon metaon its head by forcing players to use weapons that require precise aim to achieve maximum damage. Since sniper rifles and shotguns are the only weapon types found in this mode, players have to adjust their playstyles. This includes changing up the other two factors that contribute toApex Legends- mobility and Legend abilities. As both are tied to each other, some characters are bound to be more useful than others in Armed and Dangerous.

The Safety of a Shield
Players normally cannottake on an entire squad with a Peacekeepershotgun from a distance, so they have to carefully pick off their targets before going in for the kill. Seeing as assault rifles, marksman weapons, light machine guns, pistols, and submachine guns are out of the loot pool, sniper rifles are the go-to weapons of choice. Sniper rifles don’t get as much love as other weapon types, so Armed and Dangerous is a great mode for them to shine.
Defense Legends like Gibraltar, Rampart, and Newcastle are excellent picks when it comes to poking with sniper rifles.Gibraltar has a Gun Shieldthat protects him from enemy sniper fire, making him the unofficial ace-in-the-hole when it comes to long-range battles. Rampart’s Amped Cover and Newcastle’s Castle Wall provide excellent cover for the Legends and their squadmates, with the former adding a good damage boost to outgoing fire. Enemies will find it difficult to take down a squad with these Legends at long range, as they can hunker down for as long as they need to.

Closing The Distance Is Important, Too
Since squadmates can easily revive each other when they are knocked down, an enemy squad must close the distance quickly to capitalize on the advantage. PickingLegends with mobile abilities like Ash, Octane, and Horizonallows a squad to reposition fast and take out enemies. Most players prefer the close-range combat of shotguns over the slow, tedious fights that ranged sniper duels usually devolve into, so being able to close that gap is important. Squads who use this tactic won’t always win their skirmishes, but at least they’ll get a good adrenaline rush thatApex Legendsis known for.
A Little Salvonian Touch Never Hurts
The two playable characters that hail from the planet Salvo are great picks for Armed and Dangerous.Fuse’s penchant for explosivesallows him to carry more grenades with his Grenadier passive, and seeing as Armed and Dangerous removes all light, heavy, and energy ammo from the loot pool, Fuse has more room for grenades in his backpack. Those who want to add a little mayhem to the sniper rifle and shotgun mode just chuck ordinance into a fight and deal a surprising amount of damage. Add in Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster tactical ability and area-denying Motherloade ultimate, and players will be scrambling to make sense of all the explosions going off around them.
Mad Maggie’s contributions to Armed and Dangerousare a bit more straightforward. She is the only character who benefits from using a shogun, thanks to her Warlord’s Ire passive that makes her run faster with one in hand. The passive ability also momentarily allows her to spot enemies she has damaged through walls, making her a great pick when it comes to close-range combat. If closing the gap is what players want, Maggie can also provide some quick mobility with her Wrecking Ball ultimate.

These are just a few Legends that can give players an edge inApex Legends' Armed and Dangerous mode. The game mode might not change up the traditional battle royale formula as drastically as something likeApex Legends' Shadow Royale mode, but it does provide enough variety so that players have to change how they play. In the end, all Legends are viable in Armed and Dangerous, provided players can hit their shots.
