Shannon Guin, an individual who accusedThe Flashactor Ezra Miller of acting inappropriately and endangering her 12-year-old child, was a story that ran last year. However, after a court hearing, the temporary harassment order has been lifted, with Miller pushing back in their defense. The Flashactor Miller, who goes by they/them pronouns, was never charged or investigated by police for the allegations, which were proven to be dishonest on Guin’s account in a court of law based on witness testimony and text message receipts. Additionally, according to Miller’s lawyer Marissa Elkins, Quin accused Ezra of false allegations at a time whenMiller struggled with mental health issues. Elkins states, “had Ezra been able to appear in court last year and share the truth about their very limited interactions with Ms. Guin, I am confident the original order would have never been issued.”RELATED:The Flash’s Michael Shannon Shared His Thoughts On Ezra MillerAfter the harassment order was lifted, Miller made a public statement in support of actual victims, condemning the misuse of the protective order system. They say the protective order system is “meant to provide safety for individuals, families, and children who are in danger. They are not meant to be used as weapons by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal vengeance when there are people in true and dire need of these services.” Miller defends their innocence, stating that they have been “unjustly and directly targeted by an individual who the facts have shown has a history of such manipulative and destructive action.” Some people suggest that it wasThe Flashactor who was the target of harassment not only in this allegation but others pushed by the media and their accusers in what has resulted in a smear campaign that has had damning ramifications on Miller’s career and public perception. Arguably, the reason that the public may not be aware of this evidence is that the media did not follow up on their initial reports as updates came out on other platforms. Therefore, others in the public have carried the torch in advocating for the actor at a time when they couldn’t defend themselves.
Miller was the target of another abuse claimby the parents of 19-year-old activist Tokata Iron Eyes, who had denied the claims by her parents and called it “a disgusting and irresponsible smear campaign.” The evidence shows that Miller is not an abuser, but that does not mean they have been safe from controversy amid their mental health crisis. “I want everyone to know that I am continuing to do my best to preserve my own wellness,” Miller said. The Flashdirector and producer Andy and Barbara Muschietti state if a sequel does happen, which is unlikely now withThe Flashfailing at the box office, partly due to the allegations against Miller, it would be with Miller.
Co-Stars Michael Shannon andKiersey Clemons also support Miller, with Clemons thanking Miller for advocating for her to continue playing Iris West following her debut inZack Snyder’s Justice League. Some fans want media outlets to update their reports with the information that arguably clears Miller’s name. Miller agrees, urging “members of the media who have recklessly spread false claims and failed to accurately report the truth and context of this story, to hold themselves to a higher standard and take the time to find the facts, rather than chasing the clicks.”
Unfortunately, some of those individuals have chosen to double down and defend their original reports despite the information that has come out since. After all,Miller pled guilty to a trespassing charge, but even so, conflating this misdemeanor and other incidents with these endangerment allegations might be unfair. Nonetheless, Miller is committed to reversing “the collateral damage this ordeal has brought upon me and those close to me,” and they thank those who stood by them, saying, “I will spend a long time trying to explain to you what it has meant to have your support.”
