The Outlast Trialsis a unique addition to the online multiplayer survivor horror world. Unlike other titles in the series,The Outlast Trialsisn’t limited to a single-player story mode but still utilizes the universe’s lore. The players' primary objective is to complete the therapy program at Murkoff Facility as a Reagent and leave as one of the Reborn.

Instead of levels, players go through trials with puzzle-based tasks to carry out an overall goal. The trials are the main part of the therapy program, and as the game progresses, players can earn collectibles called Release Tokens to exchange for their freedom. However, Release Tokens are not guaranteed with each trial, so here’s how to get them and be Reborn inThe Outlast Trials.

How to Get Release Tokens in The Outlast Trials

Release Tokens are rewarded for finishing all thetrials in Program X. Program X is the final therapy program unlocked after players do the first three programs. Each program takes place in a specific location:

The programsconsist of four trials, including two MK-Challenges and a Final Exam. All the programs aren’t available at first, but they unlock as players increase their Therapy Level by earning good grades on trials. Once every single program is finished with a passing grade, Program X becomes available.

The Outlast Trials Reborn

In online multiplayer matches, if players join a group and the host is doing a Program X trial, they may also earn a Release Token after the trial without needing to enter Program 1-3.

Program X is ten trials in total, and players earn a Release Token per successful trial. The trials are similar to the ones in the previous programs, and after collecting all ten Release Tokens, players can go to the door under the “Join the Reborn” sign in The Sleep Room and talk to the man at the desk.

How to Be Reborn in The Outlast Trials

Of course, being Reborn is not something as simple as walking out to freedom. Instead, players will have a final solo trial to beat before leaving Murkoff Facility. The last trial takes place at the same mansion as the tutorial introduction but is far more advanced, with more enemies and tasks.

When they leave, they will be replaced with a new Reagent and get to replay Program X for new rewards and a possible second rebirth, which starts the process back over. Players maintain their Therapy Level andall the perks and equipmentthey had before completing the final trial.
