Deadline has now just recently confirmed that the cinematic universe will be officially finding a forever home at Netflix, which makes further sense as to why Entwistle was sought out to be in a leadership position for this project. Micheal Lombardo, Entertainment One’s President of Global Television spoke to Deadline to share his enthusiasm. He stated, “Since weset up Power Rangerswith Jonathan, we pitched really a whole-world approach. It’s not just one show, it is shows followed by films, some kids programming. We have found a great writing partner for him. They are off, knock on wood. Netflix is excited, we’re excited. We hope to have some news soon.”

When the concept of a sharedPower Rangersuniverse was first announced, Entertainment One Film President, Nick Meyer, spoke of Entwistle quite fondly and further explained why he is the man for the job. “Jonathan has an incredible creative vision for this iconic and hugely successful franchise and is hands down the right architect to join us as we reimagine the television and film works of this property,” he said. " Across our slate, we are looking forward to working with the most talented storytellers as we take on Hasbro’s rich fan-favorite brands and build entertainment universes around them.”

The very firstPower Rangersfilm for the shiny new universe was actually first mentioned to the public back in 2019. It will be directed by Entwistle and written by Patrick Burleigh ( known forhis contribution toEternals,Ant-Man and the Wasp, andPeter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Most plotlines and overall story arcs have been shielded to the public thus far regarding what exactly the beloved Power Rangers will be getting into.

However, it has been reported that time travel will be a strong theme for the cinematic universe. ThePower Rangersreboot filmwill supposedly be a time-traveling story that brings the team back to the ’90s (the very beginning of their conception). The universe seems to be revolving around this theme of returning back to home and the natural desire for nostalgia.

Power Rangers(2017) is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
