Horror fans were excited to revisit Haddonfield, Illinois withHalloween(2018) andHalloween Kills(2021). Even if fans don’t agree with every plot point or character decision, and even if these two films didn’t feel completely satisfying, being part of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers’s world again is always thrilling and terrifying.
After learning more about Laurie’s family, from her tough daughter Karen Nelson (Judy Greer) to her spirited granddaughter Allyson (Andi Maticahk), fans have some thoughts about what could happen inHalloween Ends. There is one fan theory in particular that is fascinating to think about and makes perfect sense.

One Redditor shared afan theory forHalloween Ends, noting thatfans know a few things aboutHalloween Ends: the story will acknowledge the COVID-19 pandemic, take place after a four year time jump, and Jamie Lee Curtis said that fans could be mad and upset with what happens next.
The fan wrote, “AfterKillswe will see Michael give up very much like in the 1978 flashback scene and be arrested. He’s back in Smith’s Grove. Haddonfield will be a ghost town. Between pandemic lockdowns and probably half the town’s population leaving after the 2018 massacre it will almost have tumbleweeds blowing through it.”
The fan continued that Laurie and Allyson are going to “face Michael” and they could get into Smith’s Grove and try to get to him. This will create chaos and death as it will mean “employees and patients to be massacred by Michael in the crossfire.” Several fans expect to seeAllyson play a big role inHalloween Endsas she and Laurie will likely be a team, so this theory makes sense.
There a few interesting things to unpack here, the first being that Haddonfield could have been really affected by the pandemic.Redditor DoomsdayFANwrote, “I dig a lot of your theory, OP. Especially the post-pandemic “ghost town” thing with Haddonfield. That would be amazing.“Scream’s Woodsboro setting is the bestbecause it’s an otherwise sweet and adorable small town, so the fact that unimaginable terror happens here is even more powerful. If Haddonfield has had a hard time, with businesses closing and people hurting, that will add another layer of pain and suffering to the trilogy, which will be tough to watch but impactful.
The second part of the theory is about including a familiar setting: the institution thatvillain Michael Myerswas in for a long time.Redditor wookiewinwrote, “Most of the movie taking place in Smiths Grove is an interesting and possible choice.” It’s always terrifying to imagine Michael being locked up because on the one hand, it seems like he would be in a high security place and wouldn’t be able to escape… but as fans know, he does manage to get out and go on another killing spree. It would be satisfying and logical for Michael to at least have gotten put back in Smith’s Grove, even if he doesn’t stay there. If this theory is true, it would make sense for Laurie and Allyson to make it into Smith’s Grove and for Michael to then escape and wreak havoc in Haddonfield once again.
With all threeHalloweenmovies taking place on October 31st, it would be interesting to have some of the film take place at Smith’s Grove since this would introduce a new yet familiar element. SinceHalloween Killsbrought back original characters Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) and Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards) return to fight Michael Myers, the third movie should do something different. Fans are used to seeing characters going after Michael in their hometown and including Smith’s Grove would shake things up a bit.
Just like fans wonder if Neve Campbell’s characterSidney Prescott will die in aScreammovie, it’s hard to know what will happen in the final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. Some fans think that Michael will kill Laurie at the last moment since Jamie Lee Curtis said that fans wouldn’t be happy with the ending. Others feel that of course Laurie will bring Michael down once and for all as it doesn’t feel like there could be any other way to end the trilogy.
While fans wait forHalloween Endsto see if any theories come true, it’s interesting to think about what Jason Blum said about the vibe of the three films. Blum toldSlash Filmsin an interview, “I think the second movie is tonally a little bit different than the first and I think the third is tonally a little bit different than the second. It is risky to do, but if you’re able to pull it off, it’s great.”
