It would’ve been a perfect way for the long-running franchise to go out in style. However, money talks in Hollywood, and the most recent sequel grossed $1.073 billion worldwide, making it hard for Disney not to continue with the highly profitable franchise.
Rumors have been circulating about the possible return of Andy inToy Story 5, which has caused some discontent with some of the fan base, who were satisfied that his story had been wrapped up in the third movie. Andy bid farewell to the series inToy Story 3’s saddest story, passing his beloved toys over to Bonnie, to continue the franchise inToy Story 4, which she did, alongside a slew of new characters, including the immensely popular Forky.
There have been some classic characters to feature in the series ever since it first graced cinema screens in 1995. Some of those that featured earlier on in the series, and haven’t returned which opens up the possibility for the series to explore its roots inToy Story 5.

Toy Story 5 should bring back Sid
A key component in order forToy Story 5to succeed, has to be the presence of a strong story to justify bringing back a franchise that appeared to ride off into the sunset four years ago. Of course, audiences will probably return regardless of how strong the story is, but the franchise faces tainting its legacy if it comes back with a weak story. There are rumors circulating thatToy Story 5might see the return of Sid as the primary antagonist. The inclusion of this character would prove very popular with fans, as he hasn’t been seen properly since the very first movie. It could be time to revisit one of the best villains the franchise has ever seen in the next sequel.
Sid is the only character in theToy Storyfranchise to know that toys are alive, and it would be interesting to see what he did with that information in the years since the first movie. Could his insistence on toys being real have led him to not be believed by people, and on the brink of insanity? This is a strong possibility, and would definitely motivate him to take his revenge on the toys inToy Story 5. InToy Story 3,there was an interestingEaster eggthat pointed towards Sid’s possible fate, when a trash collector turned up wearing Sid’s classic skull t-shirt, But what has happened to Sid since this moment?
It’s never good for mysteries to be left unsolved in big franchises, so the announcement ofToy Story 5has re-ignited the possibility of one of the biggest unanswered questions in the franchise to reach a satisfying resolution. Could Sid have been plotting an elaborate plan to bring the toys down ever since he met them in the first movie? Villains in the sequels have largely been fellow toys, and it’s getting a bit predictable now, soToy Story 5should definitely change the format and bring back Sid for one final showdown with the toys.
Fans can’t deal with yet another toy abandoned by their owners inToy Story 5, so if the movie includes Sid’s return, it could be a very positive step forward for the franchise, as it risks the wrath of many who consider this new movie a step too far. A human villain like Sid could result in a positive return for the near thirty-year-old series.
