Summary
Adin Ross claims thatTwitchcould be preparing to lift the controversial streamer’s permanent ban later this year, according to a recent Kick stream. Throughout his career as a streamer, Adin Ross has been one of Twitch’s, and later Kick’s, most outspoken personalities, often speaking his mind for better or worse. He has often received backlash for hiscontroversial takes on topics like transgender peopleand cancel culture, eventually receiving a permanent ban from Twitch despite being one of the site’s top streamers. Now, Ross claims his time away from Twitch won’t last much longer.
Adin Ross first received his permanent suspension fromTwitchin February 2023 after four years on the Amazon-owned platform. According to Twitch, the reasoning behind Adin Ross' permanent suspension was related to the display of a chat box from competitor platform Kick on his stream, containing offensive language and racial slurs. Ross would pivot to Kick following the Twitch ban, quickly becoming one of the most well-known creators on the startup streaming platform. Now, Adin Ross believes he will be returning to Twitch in the near future.
As reported by Dexerto, a recent clip from a Kick stream reveals that Adin Ross' team is working on getting his permanent suspension from Twitch reversed.Asked by popular streamer xQcif he was still banned on Twitch, Ross stated that he will be un-banned at “some point during 2024.” He emphatically asserted the claim to viewers watching the stream, believing that Twitch is intending to lift his suspension within the coming months. Adin Ross expressed his excitement at the thought of returning to the Amazon platform during the stream, now just over a year since the permaban was enacted.
Twitch May Be Unbanning Adin Ross Soon
Though Adin Ross did not provide any definitive proof of Twitch’s intentions to reverse his ban, the move would follow similar sentiments from Twitch in recent months. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy discussed the possibility ofreversing some of Twitch’s permabans last year, open to the idea of giving some banned creators “another chance.” IShowSpeed would see his permanent ban reversed last Fall, nearly two years after the streamer was banned for offensive remarks made during an Adin Ross stream.
Twitch’s recent stance towards its permanently banned streamers comes as the company has reportedly seen significant financial struggles. A statement from Twitch late last year revealed that the popular streaming platform is not profitable, reportedly operating at a loss due to its rampant expansion. Twitch also revealed it is shuttering its services in South Korea, receiving a massive fine from South Koreafor violating telecom laws related to the unexpected shutdown. Twitch will hope that enticing some of its former popular streamers back to the platform can help to right the ship for the struggling streaming site.
