Takafumi’s Uncle may just have the worst luck in history (and that’s over and above his horrendous misfortunes in Granbahamal!) While many viewers criticized the orc-faced man right off the bat for not being the typical Isekai adventurer (with the corresponding narrative and sequencing), others found the utmost delight in the fresh storytelling and side-splitting content.

Unfortunately, those who became invested couldn’t avoid disappointment, whenUncle From Another Worldwent on hiatus after just four episodes had been released. Ojisan and Takafumi returned for a split second before Atelier Pontdarc Studiosannounced further production delays due to an increase in COVID infections, leaving fans with a total of seven episodes to work with.

WhileUncle From Another World’schronology is rather discombobulated in general, its release dates did not intend to follow this trend and Atelier Pontdarc Studios has apologized profusely, however, safety comes first! Understanding fans have kept a close eye on any new activity, and are overjoyed to discover the official announcement stating that Ojisan will return on 07 June 2025 (well, in Japan, that is).

International viewers only haveNetflixto rely on for their dose ofSEGA-Isekai foolishness, which has proudly declared the additions ofBlack Clover,Seven Deadly Sins, Kengan Ashura, and theJunji Ito ManiacCollectionto their lineup. But have they left Ojisan out in the cold?

UnlikeCrunchyroll, Netflixtends to avoid simulcasting series and was likely out of its comfort zone withUncle From Another World’sset-up (even after allowing themselves a further two-week delay between Japanese and international release dates).

They are unlikely to rush back into such a co-dependant relationship anytime soon and have stayed conspicuously quiet about Ojisan’s whole ordeal.Netflixhas made no mention of when viewers can expect him back on their screens (not even on the “Worth the Wait” list!); all that they are willing to divulge is that there is a “new episode coming soon,” and that’s the end of that.

Hope on the Horizon

At least Ojisan’s greatest supporters know that they can still legally entertain themselves with their favorite SEGA-inspired anime antics as it is evident thatNetflixhas not completely cut ties withUncle From Another World. While this streaming site may not be concerned with disappointing fans by canceling popular series productions, dealing with uncontrollable delays is not something that they are terribly familiar with, and were likely frustrated and even embarrassed by the whole nightmare.

To save face,Netflixwill probably ‘save up’ the remaining six installments and simultaneously release them in a batch, like they do with the majority of their content.Episode 13 ofUncle From Another Worldis expected to air in Japan at the end of the 2022 Fall period, on 30 December (if there are no further interruptions.) Ojisan’s international fans should hopefully get back in on the action soon afterward, and start their new year off with a bang! They also now have a chance to indulge in a binging session or two, with around two-and-a-half hours of hilarious content to enjoy, without the fear and uncertainty of further disruptions in their viewing experience.

Where Things Left Off

In case fans are a bit foggy regarding what went down during episode 7 ofUncle From Another World, here’s a quick update. Sonic makes his grand debut (well, sort of) as Ojisan assists his new group of friends in conquering a giant, incredibly aggressive hedgehog. Alicia is due to share the spotlightamidst the bevy of babesas the official “Hero” of Granbahamal, so long as she, Raiga, and Edgar keep conveniently running into the antisocial, memory-erasing Ojsan. Meanwhile, things get (even more) awkward for the temporarily magical Takafumi, when another man enters the picture and is misidentified as a threat (in the romance department) but actually turns out to be Fujimiya’s younger brother; oops!
