Luminous Productions’Forspokenstars Frey Holland who is transported to the magical land of Athia where she must master her magic powers and defeat the evil Tantas if she wishes to ever return home. Trailers have revealed that the game will have a breathtakingly large open-world, though it will wind up being boring if it isn’t executed correctly. The game should take a few pointers fromBreath of the Wild, which has been celebrated for its stellar open-world design.
LikeBreath of the Wild,Forspokenshould have an open-world that feels alive and reacts to player input. Furthermore, it should have some puzzles sprinkled in to ensure the game isn’t just about slaughtering monsters. With the correct elements,Forspokencould be one of the best action-adventure games of 2023.

Forspoken Should Make Its Open-World Feel Alive
Breath of the Wild’s open-worldexcels for many reasons, including its beauty and size. The game’s open-world has also been commended for being more than just a backdrop - it is a sandbox that players can directly affect and experiment with. For example, the weather has very real effects on Link and his surroundings. When it rains, mountains become slippery, making it much harder for Link to climb. Similarly, during thunderstorms, it is a good idea for Link to ditch his metal gear because it attracts lightning. Players can light fires and ride the hot air currents on their Paragliders, or they can place a bomb down and use a Korok leaf to blow it toward an unsuspecting Bokoblin. The possibilities are endless.
Because of the interactive nature of the open-world, Hyrule feels alive at all times.Forspokenshould implement a similar-feeling open world, and Athia should feel like more than just a cardboard background. Rocks shouldn’t be static objects placed for aesthetic purposes. Players should be able to move them or even incorporate them into battles. The weather should do more than just change the scenery; it should affect how the open-world feels and behaves. This would assist to make Athia a memorable setting in the sea of open-worlds available.

Forspoken Should Have Puzzles to Break Up The Action
When Link awakens from his long slumber, he discovers that Hyrule is a dangerous place filled with monsters like theKeese, Bokoblins, and Lizalfos. Although he is forced to engage in plenty of combat, there are many challenges that require brain power more than strength, asBreath of the Wildhas many puzzles. Most of the puzzles come in the form of Shrines that have players using Link’s tools in various creative ways to overcome obstacles. Though some puzzles can be frustrating, they add some variety to gameplay and provide a nice break from the action.
InForspoken,Athia is plagued by the Breakwhich turns everything it touches into a corrupted version of itself. As a result, Frey will be up against terrible beasts as she explores the land. However, this shouldn’t be the only way players are challenged. It would be nice if there are a few puzzles thrown in to test Frey’s mind in addition to her magic skills. Players could be rewarded for these challenges by unlocking new powerful magic spells or upgrades.
From what has been shown ofForspoken, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about what Luminous Productions is cooking up. Frey’s story is intriguing, and Athia is a setting just waiting to be explored. Although gamers have had to endure afewForspokendelays, they won’t have to wait much longer for the game’s release.
Forspokenis scheduled to release on July 05, 2025, on PC and PS5.
